Why is my fiancee's mom bribing me with gas cards?

Why is my fiancee's mother bribing me with gas cards, when I've put on 6300 miles in the last two months? My fiancee can't drive because of her seizure disorder(though it has been getting more under control recently). We currently live 45 minutes away from each other. My fiancee's current living situation is starting to really stress her out! We are trying to save money for our future wedding & a place for us to live together. The distance is also frustrating my father. My fiancee loves her mother and doesn't really want to hurt her, but sometimes her mother can be a real pain! I am also going to RCIA classes so that we can get married in my fiancee's church and get married the right way

I don't see that as a bribe. I see that as a trade off. You are putting a lot of miles on your car & your FIs family recogizes that has a cost. It should be making you happy not annoyed.

Yeah, I don't think that's a bribe at all. It looks more like a sign of recognition and appreciation.

 

I mean, it's not just about the money, but she can't very well make up for the effort and wear & tear on your car, so she tries to help with the cost of gas.

 

Sounds pretty nice to me.

Well I'm not sure but it sure seems like her mom doesn't want us living together till we're married. But it'll make it easier on us so that way we can accomplish our goal. Her mom is so worried about her soul. My fiancee doesn't like it at home anymore. I get ssdi I work two jobs. Her mom crested her face from behind her and can you do this for me out of pitty cause her mom can't walk downstairs cause of her bad knees like her mother is completely helpless.
