greenfairie
I feel like I would feel so much better as a whole person if I went to an university. I go to a local community college right now, doing classes to meet my requirements to transfer. I don't have the grades yet or enough classes to transfer yet but I feel like such a loser. So many of my friends I know are already in great universities, some are already well-traveled. Its crazy how far ahead people can get and I feel just so damn behind. I don't even know how to figure out my transcript to figure out WHEN Im able to transfer.. So hard.
skydiveaddict
What the hell? Your worth as a person doesn't depend on your education level. Many people have diplomas and are very unhappy. Don't be so hard on yourself. I have a four year degree and I ended up working on wind turbines. Also I owed the military four years for financing my education and they sent my sorry ass to Iraq and Afghanistan.
d0nnivain
My husband didn't get his college degree until he was in his late 30s. Before that he did travel the world, courtesy of the US Marine Corps. Work on getting your grades up & buidling a solid work history. If you want to travel & have time as a student look into study abroad programs, find out if your church has any missionary programs, research those courier gigs where somebody pays to you take something to another country, get a job with an airline. DrSimple
Focus on what you have, rather then what you do not. The key to becoming happier with your life is this thought process, it creates a lot of internal positive reinforcement. The biggest problem I see with your comments is worrying about being behind others. Life isn't a sprint, feel free to take your own path and be happy about it. I took a year off after high school, went to a local college to do a 2 year program, then did my BA at University part time while working full time. I finished at 26. Do I feel "behind" other people? No. My journey has taught me a lot of lesson's others have not learned, I also came out of it debt free. Rather then stressing about school during that time I was able to enjoy life, learn a life skill (working as a chef while going to school), and work on improving myself as a person. Do things for your own reasons, not to satisfy your need to keep a perceived pace with your peer group. Edited November 22, 2013 by DrSimple
Emilia
So hard. It's more that people do a huge amount in their 20s. You will get there. You will experience, grow and change. Don't worry.

pink_sugar
OP, it took me 4 years at a junior college before I transferred. I was in school 6 years by the time I got my bachelors. I went to a small private university not many people have heard of. And you know what? Two of my friends who went to a well known prestigious university finished 2 years before I did....and I'm the one with a decent paying, full time job while they are still unemployed. So don't worry about what others are doing. You'll have your chance to shine.
SerCay
OP, I'm 26 and started at a new uni this year.. I didnt graduate from the last ne, so we could say that I started college at 26!! Also, dont be so hard on yourself. Almost everyone in my suroundings has traveled the world and has tons of things to do, I felt lame, lazy and left behind..until I realized that I actually like being at home, reading a good book, shopping, and spending time with my family. It's about individual choices, the hype is so NOT important...it's about what YOU prefer and enjoy Edited November 24, 2013 by SerCay
FitChick
You don't want to find yourself massively in debt like most grads these days with no end in sight. Google jobs that don't require a college degree but pay well. There are a lot out there. You could also consider moving and working in the oil industry for big money. Then later you could pay cash to go to college if you still wanted to.
Outsider77
You're saving money by going to a community college. You won't feel like a loser when you have way less loans to pay off than your friends do.
