melell
I think the way you feel as a teenager stays with you, forever. I really believe that. And we try to change and we hope that we change, but we don't really in big ways, in serious ways. I think the personality is formed at that time, for the good and for the bad. ... We all want to grow up and move on and appear to be different to people. And we want people to see us in a different way. But, I don't know, I think the personality is very, very strongly cemented, and we just bear whatever shortcomings we have and learn to live with it.
Mario79
I think its formed earlier, my sister studied early childhood development and I think a lot of this stuff happens before your teenage years and to have a healthy development you require a strong father figure as well as strong mother figure. Then once puberty comes, you just get really messed up. But I dont think thats the case, experiences in life change us and change our perceptions and understanding of how things are. Its that knowledge. I feel its that way, my teenage self was super naive and very quite full of himself. I am much happier now than I was back then.

I do feel there are things deeply rooted in your subconscious. (sigh) its not just teenager years but childhood more-so. And there are things i wish I can undo that were way out of my control. There are ways I am dealing with these on very deep level for my own reasons...and I do see a lot of positive changes which are coming with time as I allow them to. I am the type of person that can easily be both introverted to extroverted very easily with slight changes in daily habit.

Or that perhaps in our teenage years we start being a bit more introspective so we notice ourselves, but the traits were laid down much before it.
Mario79
I was thinking the same just after posting. Or that perhaps in our teenage years we start being a bit more introspective so we notice ourselves, but the traits were laid down much before it. In my teenage years I made a concept of my reality based on my experiences and current situation. You try to set yourself aside and define yourself but you are so influenced by everything and everyone around you, if anything I feel its harder to find yourself. But as we gain more experiences, and put ourselves out there we adapt and learn and become what is needed based on our current situation. Things you liked now, you may not 10 years from now. But there are things at your core that you need and hold on to that are part of you, good and bad things. Those thoughts you have I had them once, I spent hours thinking of whys and hows, humanity and the purpose of existence. Well I hope you dont spend your time thinking all that stuff. Sometimes is best to just relax.

Mario79
That came across a little patronizing.. sorry if it did. But I mainly talk about me and my experiences when I say "you". I tend to do that a lot. Unless you meant the last sentence. That one I did mean for you in a none patronizing manner.
jimloveslips
I think the way you feel as a teenager stays with you Hmm, maybe... I see myself as early twenties most of the time, I tend to shock myself when I look in the mirror and my father stares back at me… I think I'm a very different person now to how I was then. Mostly for the better!
