Vlcd [very low calorie diet]

Recommended Posts

i am 1.81m

That's 5'11''?? 132lbs/60kgs is way too low body weight for that height.

You are currently at 26 BMI which is not obese?? Whatever anyone thinks of BMI, at this level it's a good indicator and you are just outside the healthy range. I'm sure you need to lose weight but I agree with the others that extreme diet is not the way to go. Start weight training and running. Eat properly. Forget this 500 calories a day crap.

I can in no way condone VLCD. It's a half-step away from turning into anorexia or bulemia. My ex suffered from these when she was a teenager, many years before we met, but still had a troubled relationship with food then.

She was amazed that I could eat so much and yet still be slim. It dodn't compute in her head. Now she understands that if you exercise sensibly (weights and cardio) you can eat a LOT, provided it's all clean and healthy, and still be slim. What's more, you'll be toned and fit too.

Why would you choose to be hungry all the time on a VLCD instead of that?

so far i have maintained a weight loss of 2kg a week.

This is something that can be achieved with a normal amount of energy intake. You're looking to lose the equivalent of 50 pounds... that is not something that will necessarily happen linearly. With a normal and healthy diet, you will lose a lot of weight immediately, before plateauing for a bit before losing the last part.

Its healthy and natural to have *some* fat on your body, you are aiming too low. Eat good fats, carbs from wholefoods, protein and work out. My brother did this along with HIIT and he lost 30 kgs in 2 years. And he still maintains his physique, he is handsome! And above all healthy. Think about it. And leave celebrities in their misery.

This is true; I lost 90% of my lot weight very quickly - it took me three times as long to lose that final 10%!

hi to all,

ok. no i am not hungry all the time. no i am not tired all the time. i am not asking what the side effects may be. im asking if anyone has experience with it and losing weight.

it is a recognised medical way to lose weight. when your BMI is in obese this is the diet physicians put you on. most actresses eat around 500 calories a day. in fact two top trainers to the stars get them looking that way by putting them on 600 calorie a day diets.

i am not saying it is a miraculous new and healthy way to do it. i am just saying that it isnt starvation, and it isnt going to make you go into starvation mode and it isnt going to make you not be able to do anything.

understandable the best long term way to lose weight is to have a perfect balance of what goes into your body as well as a fabulous excercise regime. i get that.

but, this is what i am doing. and this is what millions of other people atre doing adn have done, and i am well aware of the pros and cons - the cons are not the ones listed in this thread, as some of the cons listed in this thread are not based on intelligence or research but rather misinformation.

what i would like is to hear from people who HAVE done this and who HAVE good experience.

thank you.

I've been eating around 500 calories a day and lost 11 pounds in 13 days..

Not hungry. Not tired. Just fat.

Thing is, there aren't very much of those. I hope you're at least seeing at dietician to make sure you're doing this as safely as possible...
