FitChick
Very interesting interview with a male dancer in the New York City Ballet, as well as a three minute video. You will learn how he prepares, exercises, eats. Ballet dancers are as strong or stronger than football players but they have to make it look easy. Think that's not true? Read this article about a pro football player who takes ballet.

Read this article about a pro football player who takes ballet. And watch a ballet dancer try to play pro football...he/she gets absolutely annihilated. There would have to be an ambulance there immediately. Ot wouldnt be that drastic if football players tried to do ballet dancing. Dancers may be more balanced than football players in what they do, but in terms of whole strength there is no comparison. Dancing doesn't compare to bench pressing 500-600 lbs or RBs running through all pro 250 lb linebackers

For their relative size, I say ballet dancers are stronger. And could easily sidestep a linebacker.

You should look into some of the physical freaks that play football. Look up RB Trent Richardson. A guy who's a lean 228. He can powerclean 400+ like a toothpick, bench press 500, squat 700 (relatively easily) all this while being a sub 4.4 runner in the 40 yard dash. A dancer would be miserably crushed under any weight close to what I said. And to me, power cleaning almost double your weight is more impressive than what any dancer can do. Also look up guys like Vernon Davis, JJ Watt, as well. JJ Watt, being 6'6" almost 300, can perform a 60 inch box jump
Author FitChick
A barbell that weights what, 10 lbs? Male ballet dancers have to pick up women and lift them overhead many times during a performance and make it look effortless, like lifting a feather. Not to mention constantly being in motion, leaping high into the air. It's not lying on a bench lifting a barbell for a few seconds, grunting and grimacing like a pig. Dancers are smaller in size than football players full of steroids. Like I said, watch the video and learn something new. Read both articles and learn something new. At the very least you will learn how to prevent injuries. Better yet, why don't you put your tutu on and take a few lessons?
Emilia
The two are completely different. Yes ballet dancers have high relative strength, I'm sure many of them are great at pull ups, etc that require high relative strength. However football players have higher absolute strength. They are not as agile but still pretty nifty on their feet and carry their own bulk fast.

Eau Claire
I've been a dancer for over 40 years. The great thing about male dancers is the ones I performed with are, for the most part, still fit well into their senior years. In my 20's I gave it up as a career but dancing is is a glue that my daughter and I have together. Central to our lives. No doubt. When men ask how they can meet women...learn to dance! My boyfriend and I go dancing at least once a week and I'm always lending him out to other women when we are there. .

That is how somedude found his first girlfriend, at a dance class.
mario_C
Damn right! And yes, the cardio any kind of dance brings you is invaluable, plus it makes your confidence - and hence, your social skills - float up.
