LifeWithoutMiMi
Hi all, It has been a week that I refrain from checking from FB, and today I got the following notification from the FB app from my cell: "Do you know Mr. X ?" Mr. X is my ex's boyfriend. I don't know much about this feature from FB. But why am I receiving such notification from my cell? Is it simply I havent loggin to my FB for a week, and they want me to be active again? I tried to google what this notification means, but didn't find much. Whatever is happening, i will not check my fb.
carhill
I don't even have a Facebook account and get similar spam, often about people with whom I've had contact in real life in the past. I think that FB has spiders that crawl the web and puts personal information together. They probably bought them from Google. Yeah, I've gotten such 'notifications' about my exW, old MW's, their kids, etc, etc. amongst all kinds of other FB spam. In your case, FB must have, or found out, your cell phone number. I'm sure there are privacy settings on FB to defeat that feature, or simply block their texts.

Author LifeWithoutMiMi
It usually means he has been "friending" many people who don't know him. He then friended you and before FB sends the request they want to know if you know him or not. What is strange is that fb asks me if I know him or not, but there are no such buttons for me to reply with yes or no. Did you have to reply back to fb?

Ruby Slippers
Facebook is a giant database cataloging human beings and their activities around the globe, all their relationships, connections, likes, social habits, facial features. Go ahead and feed the machine all your personal data and plug your brain right in to the Matrix. All this data is sold and used against you. I'm sure everyone has noticed the dramatic intensification in targeted, personalized advertising aimed at you on your computer, smartphone, tablet - designed to more effectively separate you from your money. Mark my words - that's just the tip of the iceberg. I only have a FB account for business purposes. I avoid touching my account unless absolutely necessary for business. I find these "do you know...?", "did you go to high school with...?" inquiries extremely intrusive and creepy. I won't be a pawn in their manipulative games.
