Mario79
Greetings community. My name is Mario, I am 34, suffer from depression, panic attacks, social anxiety and am introvert. I lost girlfriend earlier this year and made me realize that I cant handle a relationship. I lost my best friend and made me realize how very lonely I am in my life and that people at work view me as a stranger. Have been in the same job for the last 6 years and at time get panic attacks for just showing up. I live with my parents because I fear being alone and this gives me security and a support system with my parents. I hate and have extremely harsh judgements towards myself. Now that I have given a little history of myself. I am in a position where I am looking to leave this job because I feel I need a change in my life. I dont know if this is something I need to do or not? The things that stop me from going this way is that I am well paid and that I know my craft. But there is no room for growth. I would love to be in a job where I could travel but there are no chances for this. I have applied for several jobs but have only heard back from one and did not get it. I guess my question is. Will this help me?
d0nnivain
It may help you because you will try something new & have a positive experience. It may also cause you to get additional panic attacks.
jimloveslips
>panic attacks, social anxiety and am introvert Then you take a very decent portrait, cos you look like a fun guy. Dude, if I was you, I'd go for it, but I don't have any of your hang-ups, so this maybe the worst advice to give you. I just did a "news" search for Costa Rica and maybe the exotic image in my head isn't reflected in reality, but it sure looks freaking gorgeous there on google images! I don't know how you alleviate your panic attacks, whether you need medication, or you have techniques to self regulate, but i think if you can take steps to control these events and feel in yourself that even if they do occur you can take control of them, then you should go for it. Hey if someone offers you a better job with more prospects and that in itself doesn't give you an attack then do it! Let us know what happens.

Will this help me? Hi Mario! Sorry that you are going through this. I am also feeling a bit lonely these days. It can be very annoying. Doesn't matter if you don't have deep relationships at work. Most people don't. Do your collegues treat you kindly/fairly? Or are they rude? Why do you believe you are panicking when you are going there? Since you are ambivalent, I would say keep your job for now, and enjoy the money you get from it:) And of course keep applying for other jobs (maybe also in other countries?).

Author Mario79
It may help you because you will try something new & have a positive experience. It may also cause you to get additional panic attacks. I already have the panic attacks so logic dictates to change jobs. I know you may mean more panic attacks or new and more intense ones. But my panic attacks are triggered by certain people if not Id be going insane here. Thank you.

It is a lovely country with beautiful topology, you get to experience all kinds of things, but I stick around the capitol. For anxiety I take meds. I am not exactly looking for a better job, but mainly a different job, I wouldnt mind taking a lower paying job if it meant learning and growth. But the job market is extremely competitive. So losing this job I may regret it as well. I am fun guy:P once I start trusting, but I have the power to make people feel awkward so its hard to find people I can be fun with. The problem is that in this country people tend to be way to sociable, and I have problems with people getting to close or touching me. I panic when I go to work because I just cant connect with anyone, and feel so lonely. The same after I am out of work so I spend a lot of time with myself. My panics come from thinking that this will be the rest of my life, that there are no other people like me and that people view me as difficult. I have been applying everywhere. So yeah I will keep trying that. I still have to eat and have to contribute at home. Thank you for the for the comment on my smile. I barely use it since I almost never have a reason to do so. I also live in a country where people tend to be very social, partying until the morning etc. On the other hand I am reserved and actually feel at home around awkward people If someone is awkward can't help but like him/her. There is no way this is going to be the rest of your life. It is only a dead period. People come and go all the time... I know how tiring it is not to have someone to hang out and spend quality time with. What helps me is hanging out by myself in public places (cinema, yoga, concerts, museum, malls). Somehow that helps me feel less lonely. Patience, go with the flow, and everything will fall into place!

Yeah it can be difficult, I do a lot of things by myself, grocery shopping, gym, running errands, have gone to beaches and volcanoes by myself. Even though I am never alone, I feel alone. I dunno. I just wish I had some good friends to hang out with. But for now, I feel like if I change jobs it will change a focus in my life.
