Victoria's Secret Angels workout and diet

Not to be the wet blanket here, but I watched some of that fashion show...Pretty(and very young) girls, but Im sorry, I just dont see the appeal of bulemic looking, bony assed chicklets that have no muscle mass, legs like chopsticks and obvious boob jobs...

I think if they displayed more realistic looking and attractive women there would be a much more broader appeal to their product line...

I agree with thefooloftheyear. They are too plastic for me. It's hard to think of them as actual women.

I kind of like the expose articles that come out occasionally, in which a model denounces the photoshop job done on her and shows the original picture for comparison. I often feel the original is a better image.

As far their workouts are concerned, maybe they are good. But I do wonder about their diet.

I'm not a man. But, I find the VS models horribly unattractive. They look like they are literally starving to death. They do not look feminine or sexy or even fertile. To me.

As far their workouts are concerned, maybe they are good. But I do wonder about their diet.

Just like a man -- didn't read the article and only looked at the pics!

Here is a summary:

“When I know I’m going to be on the catwalk in my underwear in a few weeks, I don’t indulge in desserts, heavy meals or anything that isn’t healthy.”

“A good breakfast is great for your metabolism – you can even be a bit naughty and eat a croissant. Then you should have a light lunch – vegetables with chicken or fish – and a very light dinner, maybe a kale salad with protein, or soup.”

“I definitely watch what I eat and will choose a lot more protein and vegetables, nothing processed, just really clean food, which can be very boring. I eat whatever I want the rest of the time, as long as I keep up the workouts.”

“For the three weeks before the show I really watch what I eat. When you are working out intensely you need a lot of protein and some carbs for energy – you just have to watch the portion size. So for breakfast I’ll have scrambled egg whites with broccoli, spinach and oatmeal; for lunch, grilled fish with steamed vegetables and soy sauce, then some lean meat and more vegetables for dinner. If I get hungry during the day I’ll snack on carrots, celery, blueberries and blackberries.”

In other words, they eat the way personal trainers and most doctors tell people to eat if they want to safely lose weight and stay healthy. Fitness instructors follow similar dietary restrictions before a photo shoot or making a new DVD.

Cara Delevinge is Joan Collins’ goddaughter, and only twenty-one. She made me laugh with this:

“In all seriousness, the only thing I have done to prepare for the show today is to put some bacon in my bag. I worry that there won’t be any backstage, so I bring it with me just in case.” Spoken like a true Brit!

In the U.S., there is an obesity problem. That's why the extreme opposite has become so coveted among women. Women want to not be fat so desperately that they lost track of where the line was between svelte and fit, and sharp and knobby and wretched-looking. I compare the phenomenon with the obsession with fattening up the brides that some African countries like Mauritania and Uganda have. Getting fat is hard in those countries, so people idealize it, forgetting the line between healthy and morbidly obese.

It's also worth noting that VS markets to women, not men.

I don't think they look bulimic. They're skinny but still healthy looking. There's a lot of girls walking around in Boston with that body type. Maybe not with the same proportions though. :p I've been around real bulimic women and they give you the chills just looking at them.

The girls I saw in the article don't have amazing hair so I might pass as well.

Woah.

I don't think these girls look unhealthy at all, and all of the bulimic comments are uncouth at the very least. You may not like a particular body type, but there is no need for the sort of remarks that have been spewed in this thread. In my opinion, these girls are lovely to look at. Impossibly beautiful? Perhaps. But unhealthy and disgusting? I think that's a bit of a stretch. Different strokes though I suppose.

I'm naturally very thin myself, and have a large bust. I'm very healthy, and if others find my body type disgusting, then that's fine. It's also fine if they want to assume that I have an illness just because I am in good shape, and got lucky with genetics - that reflects on them, not me. I've laughed off countless remarks about my "fake tits" and "bulimia" (I eat quite a lot). Hate away ;)

I have always found it hysterically hypocritical that it's okay for both men and women alike to absolutely slam skinny women, but God help us if anyone says the same about a chubba! It's comical really.

ya and they have everything paid for them. im pretty sure I would have huge muslces and ripped six pack if I had a magazine paying thousands of dollars a day for top notch trainers. these womens lives aren't real. they look happy, and they have it 'all', but behind the scenes, theyre just as messed up in the head as the rest of us. they cry, bitch, whine, complain about their thighs, etc etc. I wouldn't want to look like a model anyways. I like my belly. I think its cute.

Oh please.....Lighten up, Francis..

Im sure these girls wont need therapy because some people on an insignificant forum decided to make a judgement...

Ill stand by my original comments...Look at their arms, legs, asses, etc...If you cut their hair short and took away their breasts, they'd look like the typical 10 year old little boy...And they are supposed to be

"sexy"...huh??

Women(same as men) do not look attractive with NO muscle mass and (this applies to women)no "strategic" fat stores...Truth is they could have taken a woman like Katy Perry, set her up in their product, strutted her out there, and she would have blown the doors off all the rest of those starving tweeners..

I dont get the appeal, and neither do the other posters-from what I have read.

I'm sure they won't either, hence why I did not imply anything of the sort.

Some like em big, some like em small - as I said, different strokes.

Well, many people obviously do, judging by the popularity of it all. But that's neither here nor there.

I understand your position, and as I said - not everyone prefers the same body type. You have not fully responded to my post, you have merely re-stated (in a more polite manner) that you do not find women with no muscle mass attractive. This is not what I was addressing. I stated that it is okay to have a preference re: certain body types, but that the derogatory terms are completely unnecessary. You can stand by them all you like - my post was not intended to change you. I also pointed out that it is completely unacceptable to most to speak about overweight or obese women in this manner, but with thin girls all bets are off.

Thanks for your post. Have a nice day :)

Are people that thin skinned? I'm 5'6" and weigh 210..My bf hovers around 13/14%... I think I look good, some people think its too much muscle mass..They could say I look ridiculous right to my face..Who cares-I certainly dont, thats for sure..

And with all due respect, fat people get ripped to shreds by insensitive morons, but healthy looking skinny people rarely do..So I really dont know why you would take up that cause...but whatever...Its good that you are content with your body type.

Im sorry if I offended you.

I guess my only point is this..

Isnt advertising(because thats what the whole pupose is of the VS fashion show) supposed to target an audience and stir them to buy your product? Then why show the product off with people that, in reality,. probably look like a fraction of 1% of your target market? It would be like Mercedes Benz showing their car, not with the glamorous woman attorney in a sharp business suit or the Wall Street hotshot, but with a 22 year old kid in a dirty T shirt..

And I can see how runway models need to look super slim and slender for some fashionable womens wear, but lingerie? It almost appears(not because of age-but body composition), that these girls are too young to appropriately wear the garment. I would think, (while they wouldnt want to strut out a typical size 14-16 woman with a few pounds to lose) at least trot out fit looking models with some ass and some curves..I can picture these types would look FAR better in those sexy undies...:p

What I don't like is that they're held up as an ideal, but even they don't look like that normally. Beyond their normal maintenance, they talk about how for weeks before the show they're doing some form of dieting and training. But I think it causes people to think that females - including those models - should always be able look like that.

This is not relevant, but I'll play. Some people are that "thin skinned," yes. I couldn't care less personally, but slamming another person's body type is impolite, and using terms like "bulimic" to describe thin women is potentially damaging and offensive - end of.

Lol. Hypocritical. What about the "unhealthy" looking thin people? So you are an insensitive moron if you rip shreds off a clearly unhealthy obese person, but you stand by your statements that were clearly tearing shreds off thin women? Why is any different? You are attacking someone's body type. It makes no difference if it is smaller than you prefer as opposed to larger - slinging derogatory terms is juvenile and unnecessary. This is my main point. I cannot see how it is debatable, and you have failed to demonstrate it.

Im sorry if I offended you.

Thanks - you haven't. I'm just posting an opinion on a forum, killing time at work.

Basic advertising/psych 101, that's why.

Again, you're entitled to you opinion regarding which women you feel are attractive in which pieces of clothing. There are a multitude of issues surrounding the unrealistic body image issues portrayed throughout the media, but that's irrelevant to this thread topic.

At the end of the day, I think they look great, you feel the need to call them names. Horses for courses. But my point is: name calling is completely uncalled for and unnecessary just because someone doesn't look how you would like them to.

If people are as thin skinned as you say, that they would be offended by a nameless and facekess nobody on some forum, then we have sunk to an all time low as a people, quite frankly. And no one "slammed" anyone on ths thread, IMO:laugh: ...but I suppose one persons slammed is another persons mild critique.

Oh the drama..."Tearing the shreds"...I didnt see anyone calling these people vile and disgusting...Whew.........Do you really believe that someone "tore to shreds" anyone??

Oh, lol. I just realised that you were implying that I must look unhealthy, ha. The fact that you felt the need to throw this in is a bit funny, but I will respond.

If I look unhealthy to anyone, it's because they are used to overweight and obese people. I am well within the healthy weight range for my height. I am just very toned, small waisted, and have naturally large tits that are very perky. I suppose my chest makes the rest of me look thinner than I am? Who knows. I look fine, and I am very content. My body is quite different to most, and I'm happy with that. The comments I was speaking of generally come in the form of backhanded compliments from larger females, or females that wear a hell of a lot of makeup. Sometimes they are straight out insults, but either way, they're always good for a laugh :)

Hum, I agree with most of what you said - it's true that lately, people are trying to make curvy people acceptable by bringing skinny people down...but to say people don't speak about overweight or obese women in this manner is an insult to all women who are even slightly overweight.

And if constant fat shaming isn't enough, overweight people are constantly laughed at and made fun of.

I really mean no offense but if you are naturally skinny, you just have no idea what I am talking about here.
