Hum, I agree with most of what you said - it's true that lately, people are trying to make curvy people acceptable by bringing skinny people down...but to say people don't speak about overweight or obese women in this manner is an insult to all women who are even slightly overweight.

And if constant fat shaming isn't enough, overweight people are constantly laughed at and made fun of.

I really mean no offense but if you are naturally skinny, you just have no idea what I am talking about here.

No no, I was not saying that at all - I'm sorry if my post was unclear.

I was merely trying to illustrate the fact that if there were a post on here harshly criticising overweight women modelling lingerie, then there would be outrage. I was trying to demonstrate the hypocrisy. A lot of people feel that it is openly okay to criticise thin women, but feel very differently about speaking in the same manner re: overweight/obese women. I definitely acknowledge that overweight women cop a hell of a lot more flak than thin women - I was not trying to compare the two in that regard.

Im sorry, I just dont see the appeal of bulemic looking, bony assed chicklets that have no muscle mass, legs like chopsticks and obvious boob jobs...

I think if they displayed more...attractive women there would be a much more broader appeal to their product line..

I find the VS models horribly unattractive. They look like they are literally starving to death. They do not look feminine or sexy or even fertile.

^ If I spotted comments of this nature in relation to overweight women in a thread, I would crack out the popcorn quick smart. Larger women would have a much rougher time and be subjected to horribly cruel insults - however, it would be unusual to see such a level of criticism toward overweight women on a forum such as this, let alone multiple posts from different posters agreeing with it!

Hope that clarifies :)

THEY had bodies to die for

And some even did!

Yes all these women are all very nice looking.

The problem is they reflect about 2% of the population.

These body image stereotypes are no better than porn stereotypes.

They insidiously create expectations that we cannot aspire to, and yet we obstinately pursue...

I'm naturally thin and my entire life overweight women have made fun of me or tried to make me feel bad about my size. I have and would never comment on someone's weight whether they are extremely skinny or obese because I don't want to ever make anyone feel bad about themselves. The comments some people make to naturally thin people about their weight is very hurtful but no one seems to realize this or just think we deserve it.

Like I said, I agreed with what almond said. Shaming skinny people isn't alright and I'm sorry you went through this.

But overall, the point is fat shaming is a lot more 'acceptable'. There is even a fat shaming week ffs. And no one ever hears 'hey! you gained weight! Congrats you look awesome!'

Thank you, Almond.

I am in shape, every woman I have ever loved has been in shape.

Because I saw women I love suffering at the hands of bullies first hand, I stand up for them every chance I can get.

It is soooo hypocritical to put down people who are in shape or even skinny.

I suspect one reason the article in my original post was written was to dispel the myths like the article you read. Top models are genetically gifted, yes, but they are valuable commodities and must stay healthy to maintain their work schedules so they can make money in their short career.

But if some people want excuses to stay fat, so be it...

It seems the men on here prefer the Kardashian body type. Karlie Kloss a stick figure? Not in that photo, honey. I'd like to know where these men are picking up their sticks. Not in my neck of the woods.

Why the rolleyes??

FC, If you open your mind, you will realize that 99% of men in the world like women with curves and some meat/muscle...NOT fat women(although Id bet anything I own that if you polled a group of average men what they would prefer, they would pick the meatier woman with nice tits and ass, over the stick any day of the week, if looks were identical..) The flat chested, bony hips, flat ass, and stick legs isnt attractive to just about ANY man....But whatever works for you, is what you should be happy with..

Have a Great Holiday....!!

You're wrong about that.

Not that very skinny is anything to be aspired to (or starving to achieve), but we naturally skinny women have plenty of male fans. Thank goodness there is someone for everyone :bunny:

They don't look emaciated. Their legs look muscular, they could stomp me to the ground. I think they look awesome. I am shocked people can find something to criticize there. You can see waist, boobs, etc....they look amazing.

and TFY, I'm small chested, skinny, bony hips........never had a problem attracting men. In fact most liked to grab my hip bones and hold on as we enjoyed our time together :p

It would make sense though.

Boxer and UFC fighters do it before weight ins. It's called cutting weight and it's basically just extreme dehydration. They can cut up to 15-20 pounds.

So maybe models do that.

But since we talked about bullying people with their weight in this very thread, your comment about people looking for excuses to stay fat is kind of misolaced don't you think?

I find them beautiful because of their confident behavior whenever they ride the stage with 10-15 cm heels plus they smile a lot which many models don't do.

In my opinion, they look fine, they look skinny because of their height (178-180 cm) plus of their body proportions (apple, pear etc) but, either than that, it doesn't affect my body image at all.

They worked hard to achieve that kind of body because it is actually their job to look nice and beautiful. Anyway, I saw some of them working out on YouTube and all I can say that a person who starves himself/herself has a very low physical condition due to muscle atrophy but they don't.

I think that we tend to idealize people too much especially younger girls, they get self-conscious of their body image because of their insecure nature, not because the other one has a very beautiful body. The perception is wrong towards models - models aren't meant to be idealized, they are meant to sell a product and if they want to convince the customer to buy the product, they must show its best attributes (in this case beautiful body).

I think that the perception of modeling is wrong - it's not meant to keep an idealistic image of a certain body type, it's mean to sell a product but unfortunately, it's organized in a wrong way because they starve models to attain a certain body image that tend to be idealistic in a selfish way for the designers.

Puhleeezee....

Ladies....

Its a biological FACT that a man will always select a female based upon her ability to be "fertile" arppearing...Most emaciated looking women dont look "fertile".I didnt invent this concept, whoever created us did...If you disagree with this fact, then dont bother me-complain to the manufacturer! Why do you think breast implants, ass implants and strategic fat depositing has been all the rage? Why would a woman possibly endure the expense and pain to achieve this "look".. Wouldnt it be far easier and less financially draining to starve yourself for a few months, if that was what women really wanted to look like and men desired??

If you think you have the system beat, then more power to you. Doesnt necessarily make it right, though..

And another biological fact ladies.. Most guys will screw a warthog if it has female sexual parts..So saying "I get a lot of attention from men", really doesnt tell the whole story, quite frankly...

Im not knocking anyone..If you are happy with your body type, thats terrific!! I am just voicing my opinion and most men I have ever been in contact with have been pretty turned off by excessively skinny women. Thats all I am saying...

Enjoy your Holidays everyone..:)

Skinny doesn't mean not fertile looking, nor does it mean not fertile. Thin with small, perky breasts and wide hip bones is plenty fertile looking. Thus, men are attracted. Maybe not you, or the men you talk to (confirmation bias?), but plenty of men are attracted. Women with the VS model build need not be concerned about that.

Tip to women: you can't please everyone, so don't even try. Focus on the people who lift you up, whatever your healthy body size is.

You're being an ass, TFY. Yes you are knocking people. You are implying that we have received attention because men are such losers they will fk a warthog. LOL Classy, thank you!

Those women don't look emaciated. Are you insane?

Adriana Lima for example is "too skinny" for you? She doesn't look fertile? LMAO.

You are retardedly confusing "emaciated & excessively skinny" with in shape, thin, slender. Those chicks don't look anorexic.

Lighten up. Princess..

Im not knocking anyone...Im sure you are just smashingly attractive..

Yes, IMO, anyone who has thighs smaller than my arms doesnt classify as healthly looking...And, please..dont tell me what most guys will or wont do..you are a woman..Truth is many guys will screw WAYYY below their level...happens all the time...Not saying its what happens to you of course.

Im not confusing anything..They dont look healthy-to me..

Good grief..

Funnier because she has 2 kids

What does that even mean?? A 5' 10" 75 lb woman can conceive a child..Doesnt mean she has the "look", though..

You guys are just being silly..

If you are happy with being bony and waif, fine...It matters to no one but you and whoever you spend time with..

You're trying to tell us how ~most men~ think and feel, and I am telling you how ~most slimmer women~ feel. You do sound like an ******* basically comparing slim women to WARTHOGS. LOL @ the idea of a VS model being screwed by men considering her "below their level". Gimme a break.

Why in the world are these the size of women in magazines (MENS magazines, no less! ie: Maxim, etc) if men are not attracted to them?

Thanks for the subtle diss....."I'm sure you are smashingly attractive.."

classy dude :)

Just relax, its Christmas Eve FFS...

Is their something wrong with your reading comprehension?

Why do you get so defensive.

Where did I say Veggirl looks like a Warthog.? Where did I say that men fck down with Supermodels?? Are you serious?

And btw, it wasnt a diss, I am sure you probably are smashingly attractive..Dont just assume sarcasm..Take a compliment, girl!

And, FYI

I looked at the model you mentioned..(Lima)..Very pretty girl with an ample set of tits and a nice meaty ass. If anything you are making my point with that comparison. And the so called "mens" magazines you mention are full of big breasted women, I really dont know what you are referring to..

Stay calm.. And all the best to you and yours.

UHHH no a 5'10 75 lb woman would not be conceiving children.

You are just being a dick.

I am happy being slim, I'm not a bony waif. Although in high school I was and was constantly ridiculed & called anorexic. So f*ck off.

Oh..

Im so crushed..:lmao: I wonder if my therapist will take me today..
