Heartbreak

I need to know how to get over someone without finding someone new. I do not see the latter happening any time soon and I find myself depressed and vulnerable quite a bit of late. My ex is moving on and I am still stuck. Could you help me out with some tips on how to mend a broken heart?:(

One of the hardest things to do...

I am learning to do the same myself...

But as suggested above, you can just start talking to others... male/female.

 

There are loads of forums and chat rooms... where you can talk by being anonymous. Another thing that helps me is to read lots of articles on self improvement. And reading the problems others are going thru and trying to help them by answering.

It helps so much.

 

You can also begin making some lifestyle changes. Say redecorate your home. Get a new hairstyle and wardrobe. Go on an unplanned vacation for a week.

Invite friends over.

 

Think about your life when you were completely single. What things you liked to do then... start doing those again...

I've been there. It sucks. It takes a while to adapt to the single life again. Depending on how long you were with the person, it probably takes about that same amount of time to get over them and be comfortable on your own again. That's what I believe anyway. You have to focus your attention on something constructive. Anything really. Work out, pick up a hobby, become a night time vigilante who foils crime. Whatever you gotta do. The rest is up to time. Give yourself some time to feel like crap, then give yourself time to recover.

Time heals broken hearts. In order for time to help, you have to distract yourself from focusing on the heartbreak. Do you have hobbies? Focus on them and pick up some new hobbies. Have friends? Go do something with them. A little each time helps. Exercise helps a lot as it makes you feel good about yourself. Read that book you always wanted to read. The point is to shift your thoughts away from the past relationship and to move on. It's hard, I know. Just keep yourself busy.
