Biggest OLD turnoffs, a top 3

Recommended Posts

State your age and then your top three OLD turnoffs that make you X-close a profile.

Im 27

1. Any sort of entitled attitude or checklist.

2. Lame and obvious angle shots that tricked me into clicking the profile (lol).

3. No job. Unless theres a very good reason for it, an unemployed chick leaves me feeling Ill be taking care of her and that she wont have any cash to do anything.

1.Pictures with abs only. No face, no full body shots, just abs. Sorry but I'm looking for a man, not a square of muscle.

I'm 21.

Everything else has been said already.

2. Posting your income. I appreciate the transparancy, however high incomes make me wonder if its true, and low incomes (particularly if much lower than mine)... honestly make me judge. Sorry. So its a lose-lose there lol.

3. Being too wordy. Please.. include information about yourself and what you're looking for, but don't try too hard or carry on with some haiku or amazing story of how you've traveled the world.

THIS TOO! If a guy has ANY pics of him with other women and doesn't specifically caption it as "me and my sisters" or something.. I assume he's bad news.

1. text speak (has been mentioned)

2. "no drama" (I have found it usually means they cause it - often the mark of the unwilling to commit eventually.)

3. references to drug use (420 friendly, etc.) [Drugs are not friendly to relationships... Not ones I have been in, anyway. You can't communicate well when drunk or high.]

1. That Marylin Monroe quote.

HAHAHA, I'm a girl and can't stand Marilyn quotes. (But might actually find humor in it if a man posted it as sarcasm and a poke at women of OLD, now that I think of it lol)

1.)An empty or nearly empty profile with just one picture.

2.)A profile where they show an inflexible attitude. i.e. they are vegan and must date a vegan, they are republican and can only date a republican.

3.)Deceptive pictures from deceptive angles or pictures with more attractive friends.

1. A list of things you expect from somebody else (I have a paragraph with a few light-hearted things in about what I imagine a match for me would look like but not a list of 'you must have this, that, this, that'...) half of the time most of the girls I've seen with these profiles don't have a lot to offer!

2. When people barely fill it out 'I'll fill this out later' 'I dunno what to say so anything else just ask, I guess'... come on, there are THOUSANDS of profiles out there, if you can't take five minutes to write a couple paragraphs about yourself, what does that say about your availability to put any effort into dating? Nobody is going to come up with something they just need to know about you and send a message, not to dudes anyway, who have the whole thing weighed against them it seems.

3. Pictures of men holding up a dead fish. No thanks.

34 / Male.

1. Girls who only have pics of themselves with their dozen girlfriends, in darkly lit clubs or bars, with drink in hand.

Besides not personally being a big drinker (I never go clubbing, and only hit pubs socially) this makes me question their primary identity. Are they just partying, clubbing, drinking all the time. Do no other photos of them exist outside of a club, or just by themselves alone. It bugs me when every photo they post contains like 5 girls in it...which makes it hard to even distinguish who's the girl in the profile.

An extension of this are girls who say: "I like to get crazy sometimes" or, "Not looking for drama" (I find those are the girls who have the most of it in their lives)

2. Inflexible attitudes, girls who mention that they're stubborn or always get their way... or long lists of 'must-haves' for what she's looking for, and what a guy must must must possess in order to contact them.

3. God/Jesus/Faith is mentioned 12 times throughout her profile.

While I'm not a very religious person, I have no beef about going out with someone who is. But the one's who openly state that in their About Me section that "My primary focus in life is God/Church/Family/Myself and mentions it in each section.

On okcupid, the question section

3. "I strongly prefer to date (within) my race"

This one annoyed me more when I got messages from guys who gave this answer! WTH are you messaging me for? To go outside your comfort zone?? To experiment? GTFOH. And it was always the same answer - "I was just breezing through and I really didn't read the question." But yet on the answer of whether they "strongly preferred to have children within their race", they answered "yes" as well!

Anyhoo... my Top 3

1. Shirtless bathroom dirty mirror selfies.

2. Profiles that give you almost nothing, then say, "If you want to more, just ask."

3. The dreaded "NO TIME FOR

DRAMA!" Because a girl will read this and say, "Geez, I'm a drama queen, I better not message him!"

1. Most of the profile is spent talking about how badly he has been treated by his Ex or other women

2. Messages that say Wass up or Hey Sexy only

3. Tie between the dead fish thing and the shirtless pics only

Paltry or no effort:

  • mostly blank profile
  • only lists of favorite movies, music; with little writing about who THEY are
  • complain about not knowing what to write
  • saying they will fill this in later (BS!)

Angry face, eyes, values

  • no smiles or relaxed expression in any photo
  • many references to having a sarcastic sense of humor, with no actual sarcasm in the profile, or just plain mean with little or no actual wit or playfulness.
  • misogyny-wants to be head of household
  • assumes that every woman is a certain way and that I have to somehow counteract that bitterness to not be like 'those women'

Hypocrisy

  • They're unconventional, the new superhuman, but everyone else who is a little different is a freak.
  • Lower age skews way down, but upper age is younger than they are.
  • Want someone sparkly, but show slobby pics and slobby effort on the profile.

1) any reference to being easy going, chill, down to earth, etc... please.

2) saying that the most important thing is that i make her laugh. i'm not your comedian. if the absurdity of life isn't enough to make you laugh on your own, you've got problems.

3) traveling being one of the most important things about you. be interesting on your own. or live somewhere different a few years, instead of only being a perpetual tourist. i've traveled here and there, but people who have to go somewhere multiple times a year are silly.

I post an unrealistic income of over $1,000,000. Hopefully people can tell its a joke, because I think it's better to post that instead of dislosing my actual income to strangers.

In addition to a lot of these ( though definitely not the travel one... I don't want to date someone who DOESN'T want to go somewhere multiple times a year!)

1. "I'm just your average guy" -- if you don't even see anything unique and special about yourself, why would I?

2. Any kind of rant about women not messaging back-- come on, I get non-replies too, nature of the game

3. He has two pictures... and they're both the same one. Sure, it can be easy to double post-- but he cares so little about this whole thing he didn't even look once at the photo page? agghhh (this isn't neccessarily a deal breaker, more of a pet peeve-- but seriously, proof your profile!)

44 - Female

1) "My kids are my life" "Every free minute I have is spent with my kids" "My kids come first"

I always wonder if people just don't realize you've just told a future date or mate that time with them will not be a priority and they must accept that

2) Pictures

-all pictures from too far away to see face.

-picture of him looking oh-so-pleased to be with a celebrity that I have no clue who they are

-all pictures with a baseball cap or cowboy hat.

-high school graduation picture from 25 years ago

-no picture

3) describing himself as medium or average build when he is noticeably bigger

4) I love hunting, fishing, camping, NASCAR, football and expect the woman to as well
