ABrokenNerd
I might see my ex at a coming party (not by choice) at a mutual friend's birthday party. I haven't seen my friend in a while and he is one of my best bros so I really want to go to this party. But alas, his girlfriend and my ex are good friends so that means she was invited and might be going. I've been NC for almost 3 months now just for the record. My goal for the night is to be calm and collected and not focused on her at all and just have fun, but I know that emotions will stir. This is inevitable. Can somebody give me a quick do's and don'ts list or something? First time I've had to consider this which explains why I'm asking in the first place.
d0nnivain
First say a quick prayer that your EX realizes that since the birthday boy is your buddy but she's "only" friends with his GF she will have enough sense to be busy that night. Give yourself a good pep talk before the party & remember all of the reasons it's good that you two are broken up. Wear something that gives you confidence . . . pull out all the stops & make sure you look especially hot that night. Fake it, even if you aren't feeling all that confident. Be polite but aloof when you see her. Say hi but don't engage in meaningful conversation. Even if your cup is full, "excuse me, I have to go get another beer" is a great escape line. If you really can't stand being in the same party with her, duck out early under the guise of having other plans. She doesn't have to know that the other plans are doing anything somewhere she is not.
vassilbg
I just not only had to see my ex from last year, but meet her new boyfriend at a friend's Birthday recently... as d0nnivain said: Look sharp, confidence is key, if you can bring a hot lady friend, do it! Its what I did. I had a great time. I'm generally Alpha and control the crowds/situations and I def did that as well. Hope all goes well.
