naimino
Hello all, I'm a 22 year old female who has been battling eating disorders from age 16. I've traveled the whole spectrum, from anorexia to binge eating to bulimia to anorexia again. To say the least, this is been a tremendous hill I've been climbing, but since that issue in itself is not the point of this post, I won't dwell there now. In short, I've not been able to maintain a level body weight for 6 years now. My BMI has plunged/skyrocketed/plunged so often and so rapidly that it is now as if my skin is loose rubber hanging from my body. My breasts in particular are evidence of this drastic change, and as I struggle to regain ownership of my sexuality and physical security, this has become a big issue for me. I am now working my way up to a point where I am taking in a sufficient amount of calories every day. When I can't bring myself to eat solid food, I am supplementing with protein shakes. I have always loved to exercise, but have never been able to do so consistently, as it becomes sort of impossible when you are consuming less than you are expending. So I have started out with light activity, walking and yoga and basic floor work, in hopes that I can soon work up to weight training and eventually more aerobic activity. My most specific question (the post title!) is: does anyone have experience/advice regarding rebuilding breast tissue? I realize it's not possible to regrow my breasts. I can look back now and recognize that they used to be quite nice when I was younger, though I didn't think so then, and I wish I hadn't taken them for granted. Now they are more like deflated balloons. They are saggy and floppy -- I can only wear sports bras because they hold no shape whatsoever. They slide out of the cups of any underwire bra, and usually they even slide around and squish out of the bottom band of a tight sports bra. It's as if my skin has come away from the fat, like in the rest of my body, but it is much more pronounced in my breasts. When I pinch them, all I end up holding is a fingerful of loose skin. While my breasts will never be as full or firm as they once were, what can I do to improve their composition, if only a little? I know that building muscle will help, so I am eager to work up to weight training. I have also started taking a multivitamin, vitamin E, fish oil, maca, and wild yam supplements. Does anyone have any other tips or knowledge to share? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated, and even if you can't, thank you for reading! I apologize for the lengthiness of this post. At the very least, it was cathartic to write this all out.
TaraMaiden
I think it absolutely vital you speak to a specialist or reconstructive surgeon. This is something I think only a seasoned and respectable professional can help you with. Even if you have plastic surgery, or reconstructive surgery, your breasts are 'living things' and 'synthetic interference' will need maintenance. I wish you well, and commend you on your personal progress.
