I don't know if this is the right place for this question, but anyway....what place is better for a single guy? I've never been to Texas and I'd like to know Dallas and Houston....so what place is better for a 29 year old single guy?

I find the weather in Seattle to be very depressing but its a great city. Pick one. If you don't love it you can probably always move to the other one.

If it was the 90s I would go to Seattle for its grunge scene.

Now that it's not the 90s anymore, I don't know. Haven't really been to the US. Somewhere sunny I guess!

I would love to live in Seattle. I nearly moved there last year for a job; visited often and felt it was a hip and happening place.

I don't think any amount of money in the world could convince me to move to Texas, however.

Where are your politics? I think that might sway you one way or the other, honestly. Seattle's a very progressive place (although you'll find higher concentrations of conservatives outside of town). Texas is very conservative... and while some cities have pockets of progressive politics, Dallas isn't one of them. (Houston is, though).

As far as available women, both towns would have a lot to offer... but again, it depends on what your values are. But both have many young professionals and new industries... settings that welcome unattached, educated women.

Actually Dallas is pretty progressive. They have a thriving gay and lesbian community as just one example. Both cities are great but the cost of living in Seattle can be tough

Heh, who knew? It's been some time since I've been to Dallas... and this was not something I would have guessed. But there you go. :)

I would think the economy would be better in Texas. At least you won't have to pay income tax.

People think of stereotypes when they think of Texas, or most places for that matter. My aunt is very liberal and likes Texas.

Even if Dallas still sacrificed virgins to the gods why on earth would you willingly choose all that drizzle and clouds.

I've seen most of the country and Seattle is my favorite city. You have everything from ocean fishing and surfing to snow skiing and mountain climbing within an hour or two of each other. It is a mecca for fine foods and has a highly diverse culture with a lot of nightlife. Also, Washington is a strong "personal liberty" state. There is a definite sense of personal freedom as compared to other areas of the country. But it does rain a lot. If the perpetual green of the local rain forests is a big plus then maybe you can tolerate the rain. It is a definite trade off. Traffic is a nightmare and it tough to navigate until you learn your way around.

If you want a warm Southern climate, then you had better go to Texas.

Hey we've got all that here! Come back to Boston instead. :p

I checked yesterday and Seattle averages 90 something days of clear skies a year. That's not even two a week. I'll take our snow in exchange for the spring and summer where it doesn't rain for weeks sometimes.
