SixthSt.Girl
Actchually.... I have talked to Veggies that have missed meat. When I decided to do this I talked to a lot of people. One of my close family friends has been a Veggie for over 25 years. She said sometimes when she is at a picnic or something and people are grilling burgers (or grilling dead animals if you wish) she craves them. I don't crave meat, but at the same time am tempted sometimes (and gave into temptation today, AHHHHH!!) because there are very few options available when I'm on the road. I've been driving back and forth out of town a lot lately, and have to eat what's out there. It was pouring down rain today, and I pulled over at a small shopping area. I thought there was a Subway so I could get a veggie sub, but the only food was DQ. They had no options but burgers, chicken, etc. My option was that or ice cream for lunch. I ended up getting a burger meal - am not happy with myself, but I'm a small person and if I don't eat well, it shows. I've lost weight in the week I've been on the veggie diet, and don't feel as healthy since I'm loading up on junk food to gain weight. I don't know if the veggie diet will work with my lifestyle - guess it depends on what career option I take in the near future. I have found it to be very difficult so far. We do not have Whole Foods and organic-type stores. In some of the more liberal areas of Ohio, there is more of an emphasis on healthy lifestyles, but at our Kroger's I'm lucky to find veggie burgers. It just sucks - I don't like meat, or food much in general to be honest, but I also have to maintain my weight. I hate cooking and following complex recipes as I'm single and no one else will benefit from me going to all that trouble. thank you all for answering my questions - this board and the links blind_otter posted are very informative. I'm just going to see how it goes - I'm going to my physical soon, and will ask the doctor what he thinks.
