AnyaNova
I was already really sore after a workout. yesterday, though, I did a little physical activity, nothing too intense, but I also slipped and fell. I think it was that last that really caused the problem. Because this isn't just a little mild post workout muscle soreness. When I woke up his morning l, I could barely move because it hurts so badly. I'm doing what I can, rest, ice, gentle stretching, anti-inflammatories, both pills and cream... Is there anything else I can do, so I can do more than hobble around my house like a 90 year old?
kjackson1
What did you fall on exactly? Continue drinking plenty of water to keep your muscles hydrated and eat bananas they help with cramps/soreness. I know you said you were already using a topical cream but give Arniflora a try. It has helped me a lot with sore muscles.
Barbarossa
Make sure to maintain light cardio(walking, biking) and light stretching. Eat lots of protein to help rebuild your muscles and drink lots of fluids. Sleep is also crucial for recovery get as many hours at possible.
Emilia
Is there anything else I can do, so I can do more than hobble around my house like a 90 year old? If it's just muscle soreness after exercise and not the fall then foam rolling. It hurts for a few minutes but gets better and you can stretch afterwards. I usually go for a run at the very end just to loosen up. I don't think you should take painkillers for sore muscles though. Bit of an overkill and not good for you long term. Painkillers are best taken as rarely as possible.
thefooloftheyear
Just rest it... Epsom salt baths work great for me, along with someof the the other recommendations already posted. Obviously if it lasts for several days you may want to consult a medical professional..Plain muscle soreness(for me) is worse on the second day after a hard workout..If you are just starting a workout regimen, you will find that you wont really get all that sore once you build a solid muscle base..Ir you do, it will be mild and wont last long Feel better. Guitarisgood
Is it whole body pain? If so, it may simply be DOMS - delayed onset of muscle soreness. Nothing to worry about and nothing much you can do as it's just build up of waste from exercising that your body is trying to get rid of. Rest and go for a light walk is usually the best thing to do. I've always loved a quick dip in the ocean as a refresher too. If it is more localised pain then you may have tweaked something. Besides what you are already doing, remember to elevate the area that is injured. It draws blood away so it reduces the swelling and all the painful stuff that follows.

TFY Ah, you beat me to it. I second the advice for an epsom salt bath. Also, as Emilia mentioned, foam rolling can help. While it can hurt like an SOB if you're not used to it, it's very beneficial if done correctly. You might also try some beta alanine or even a little bit of baking soda mixed with water. Not sure how much of a dose (probably no more than a tablespoon) you'd want as I've never done this myself, but you might want to research that a little bit.

flowingmane
Deep tissue massage to help clear lactic acid, 3 days rest (stretch lightly - look for DOMS stretches online or use low impact yoga), hydrate well, eat balanced meals with low fat protein like chicken, get 8 hours sleep a night, stay away from alchohol and caffeine. And get at least 30 minutes of sunlight outside each day. You'll feel peppy in no time if not injured.
