It doesn't sound like you loved him, but you loved who he let you think he was. That is not the same guy.

Thanks for your comments :-)

I will never ever get involved with anyone at work again. It's tough being a resident since you spend most of your time at work and there really is no opportunity to meet people outside of work, but my resolve is steel now. I'm not making any more mistakes or bad decisions.

But residency doesn't last forever (actually I love it! so many friends and I'm learning so much) and I know I am very blessed to be in my position right now. NC helps. He's blocked in every way I can think of and thankfully we don't see each other at work anymore.

@truncated, I think you're right. He's the first and only person I've ever been with and I'm relatively old to be experiencing all of this for the first time so I got in way over my head. I know that's no excuse. I'm just so sorry for getting involved and especially to his wife. She doesn't know about the A but still - she doesn't deserve any of this.

I'm not angry at him, I own my part in the affair, but I would like to forget about him. One step at a time. I should probably take a break from this forum but people here have really helped me a lot and I just wanted to say thank you.
