FitChick
I think this workout video is from the mid-1980s. The instructor looks like a hippie and his background exercisers are a motley crew. One looks like a terrorist wandered onto the set. But I have to tell you, I did the floorwork (13:00) for 30 minutes and my butt was on fire. I'm going to be really sore tomorrow. I think I'm going to do this at least once a week to shake up my routine. I dare you to do just the floorwork or the whole workout and report back!

Author FitChick
I did nearly the whole workout tonight. I skipped the pushups and triceps dips on the floor because of my wrists although next time I could use my Perfect Pushups. I did the upper body portion of another DVD using dumbbells instead. The floorwork is tough. I even broke into a slight sweat which never happens with other floorwork when I use leg weights. No leg weights for this. My butt was burning! Anyone with saddlebags should do this workout. I don't have saddlebags but that is the area where you really feel it. Edited January 28, 2014 by FitChick
Author FitChick
DOMS aren't too bad today, which is good. I get bored doing the same DVD over and over so I will have to alternate this one with my others. Although I could still do it a few more times this week because I keep myself entertained looking at the background exercisers -- the black midget, the chubby girl, the one in pink channeling Melanie Griffith's "before" look in Working Girl, the skinny bald guy in black who looks like a spider, the bad outfits, the terrorist, the Eskimo chick, the bored girl, etc.

BOREDouttaMymind
very observant. typically the videos from the 70 and 80s are the best to use. modern exercise videos are so wild, fast, and ridiculous. theyre purposely made to keep you out of shape so you have to buy more of their stuff. that mentality wasn't as widespread in the 70s and 80s. good job. high five your buns of steel for me. This is more or less a variation of the work out that most of us older gals still do at the gym on our own. I use more rock music and the IPod. Buns aren't steel ( boyfriend wouldn't like that) but firm...however, also firm from good diet and moderate running. Meanwhile a dozen trends have come and gone.
Author FitChick
modern exercise videos are so wild, fast, and ridiculous. theyre purposely made to keep you out of shape so you have to buy more of their stuff. Years ago I had so much equipment my living room looked like a gym. Now I've pared everything down to dumbbells, leg weights and Perfect Pushups, along with DVDs that don't require more than that. Less is more!

Author FitChick
It's not a great full body workout unless you don't have much time since the upper body portion is minimal. I like the floorwork because it's very focused on a woman's problem area. You can entertain yourself looking at the background exercisers. It looks like Lycra hadn't been invented yet -- one woman looks like she is wearing a diaper.

Videos are fun and all, but I prefer a group setting. I took a ballet class for a while, and let me tell you, it made my butt a bit firm. And it was quite enjoyable. Nevermind I was usually one of two guys in a class full of women. Oh and it's awesome on the calves, too. But little to no upper body. Core work, for sure, thogh.
jackiechan
The best way to build buns of steel is with a barbell, check out Bret Contreras | How to Build Strong, Powerful Glutes and Increase Your Explosive Strength, Speed, and Athleticism. He has a lot of free advice and his articles in Tnation about muscle activation in different lower body exercises are great. In short: hip thrust, squat and deadlift, in that order for the best buns of steel. Edited February 21, 2014 by a LoveShack.org Moderator Removed Commercial URL

what_a_blonde
Too funny! (lol @ your terrorist remark too..) Workout videos have come a long way since then, thats for sure! I'm going to have to try to floor bit since you say its such a great workout. I've been needing a good glute/thigh workout other than my typical exercise and lunges/squats. BTW... WHAT IS WITH the underwear over the leotard look? Part of me wants to try that out next time I Head to the gym to see what kinds of looks I get.
