At odds with Mother over animal breeding issue

Hi all.

Here's a update.

I spoke to my mother and the breeder in question about the issues, they remain adamant in continuing. I have told them they leave me no choice but to report them.

I have emailed ASPCA/SPCA today and am now talking to the authorities. This was a very difficult decision for me to make, as the breeders I talked to told me the same things. They would have been obligated to report them if I had them come in so that never happened.

My stomach is just churning right now. I'm really scared and nervous. I don't want to see anyone getting charged but I really care about those animals and really believe the cats need to be retired. My mom's breeder friend technically doesn't own them, so they shouldn't be here at all.

She recently took away a mother and two kittens, I'm not sure what's going to happen to them. We still have the male and the other female, but the other female is now pregnant (dammit, I wanted to seperate them but they were very insistent in putting all of them in one room).

By my estimate, the kittens will be due in about a month, give or take. I hope I'm doing the right thing :( I hope my mom will forgive me.

I also need to clarify some things again due to some more information coming to light in the recent days.

After I said I had no choice but to report them, my mother immediately said that the cats belonged to her breeder friend (the one who was breeding her pet simanese cats). She basically threw her under the bus and said that I should report her since it's techincally hers. Even though it isn't, she (my mom's breeder friend) only got them because her breeder partner died suddenly and then had to dump them at my mother's house because she doesn't have room. At one point we had 8 cats, including our own three cats, and that's not to mention my mom's dogs (over 10 animals which was insane).

The puppies I've mentioned belong to my mom's neighbour and I've counted to a total of 16, belonging to two different females, sharing the same father. So technically my mom doesn't own any of those animals, only her two dogs plus the dog that was returned I mentioned earlier in my original post. So I'm basically having to report three people involved (my mom, her breeder friend and her neighbour). It's been a very tough call for me but I'm making it :(

The kitten was improving because I managed to convince my mom's breeder friend to give me eye drops. It was doing fine when she came to get the mom and the last two kittens.. I don't know what happened to them, likely sold them off. I tried :(

Good for you.

It must have been difficult for you to do that, but you did the right thing.

I hope your mom gets new friends: these ones are having an unfortunate influence on her.

Does your mom have any other friends or relatives whom you could enlist to talk some sense into her? She needs some positive "peer-pressure".

You did the right thing.

I know there's a soft spot for everybody with puppies but I refuse to buy them because of how many dogs are in the shelters and foster homes.

Imagine being an involuntary surrogate for your adult life :(
