Cunning-Linguist
Before online dating was popular, I used to write dating posts on craigslist for fun. I got a decent amount of replies but I never followed through and replied to any of them, I just liked writing and experimenting with different personality types to see what would draw attention. A while later my friend would ask me to write one for him and it's because of that post he met his fiance to whom he will marry next year. I have done the same when OKCupid and PoF came out. Sometimes, I would get a lot of emails and sometimes I would get a decent amount with the women always complimenting me on my profile and how well it was written. Just recently, a representative from PoF asked me if I was interested in doing an interview with a famous newspaper on online dating because of my well-written profile and OKCupid did the same but with another famous magazine. I never had any training as a writer but after reading that so many men struggle with online dating, perhaps I could volunteer and help write some of their profiles for them and see if it would help with their chances. It would be good practice to learn to be a better writer. Are there people who do such a thing? Or is this really just a light form of Catfishing? What do you think of this idea? SadNLonley
Unfortunately, it isnt only men who have issues. I wonder if the online thing just isnt for me. Maybe I just dont know how to write a profile that men find appealing. Maybe i dont choose the right pics. Who knows, but I had a profile up for a short time and then hid it from view because i was so discouraged by it. If you can help someone thats great. go for it

If you can help someone thats great. go for it I would want to help women too as I've written a few female profiles myself but I feel for women, it's mostly looks that attracts men and not what they write on their profiles. I don't even know where to start though, where do I post to let people know I'm willing to give this little experiment a try and see if my writing can help boost someone's chances to find a date. If I can manage to find somebody at least a date then I feel like I've succeeded. If not, it's no biggie, it was worth a shot.

Love the sarcasm but I would only want to write for people that want to look for meaningful relationships. Not a quick sex session. Try AdultFriendFinder
mukkrakker
I'm guessing you're not a fan of James Bond? Like every one will remember a one liner by Moneypenny? No, they'll think you're a presumptuous pervert. Love the sarcasm I was utterly genuine! but I would only want to write for people that want to look for meaningful relationships. I didn't think you could do it. It takes a lot more skill and perspicacity to advertise for a FWB than a life partner.

Targetlock
okay I'm game, I've trouble trying to come up with a decent one, here is my current description: Hi, I'm Felix. I'm fun, friendly, easy-going and a bit of a Geek (in case you want to discuss Star Wars vs. LOTR). I work as a care worker with the elderly, and I'm also a freelance sculptor. I would love to meet a kind-hearted woman with a big smile who treats life as an adventure and likes a bit of romance, such as bringing a girl nice flowers just because i can . Let's explore the city (ever been to Amsterdam?), watch movies (both classic and current - I'm good with the latest blockbuster, or watching The Godfather on the couch), and maybe attend a concert. Do you like rock and heavy metal? any favourites?. So if you'd like to chat, see my sculptures, or debate nerd topics with me, please send me a message. I hope to hear from you soon, what are you waiting for? see what you can come up with

Oh I've had online dating profiles for myself where my name was cunning-linguist. Not one female thought I was a presumptuous pervert. So you failed on that argument No, more like most of the women on online dating DO NOT want someone that is married and wants a FWB. Writing a post for FWB is easy as I've done it before. You told me you said you were a happily married man, that alone no single woman will want FWB with you no matter how well-written the profile. Your post: FAIL.
mukkrakker
Your post: FAIL. Dude, you were offering the cat fishing, i just took up the offer… one would have hoped that your eloquence at dissing would have been as good as your profile writing, but it seems not. Why would it be catfishing so long as they used the profile after I've written them? You can't be "eloquent" at "dissing" as 1. I wasn't trying to insult you at all, 2. I was simply disproving your statements. Your post just failed on all accounts, you wanted to take that as hostility. Haha Stop trying to use words you don't know. Socially inept? Hmmm. Ashley Madison might like to have a word with you. Plenty of women out there looking to hook up with married men even if they are a niche/secret demographic. Not to "cool story bro" your whole thread here, but some writing or profile examples of your work might be nice. I actually appreciate what you might be doing because people here are pretty bad at writing profiles (just my opinion). Your initial post is completely self qualifying but without evidence. I'm looking forward to seeing what you write.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you write. I know about that site; to each their own right? What I originally wanted to do is find someone who doesn't get a lot of results from online dating and see if the one I'd make for them would make any difference. It's just a social experiment. If it works great, if not then it could possibly mean that maybe people are really more concerned with appearances and could really care less what you'd have to say or how well you say it. I'm not gonna be the one but I like the idea. Big fan of social experiments and trying different things to gain a reaction. Personally, I think its a combination of both with appearances/picture quality gaining the slight upper hand in importance. I have my own ideas I guess about what makes a great profile. Certainly being different and challenging the stereotypes of what most men write gives you a certain "one of a kind" value that can distinguish you as a pearl in a sea of clams. Prey tell... eloquent, adjective: 1. fluent or persuasive in speaking or writing. dis, informal verb 1. speak disrespectfully to or criticize. catfishing, informal verb/noun 1. fabricate online identities... Hey, genius, he wasn't trying to "diss" you. He said your post is fail. There's was no obvious attempt at being eloquent with stating an opinion. Kept it simple and easy to understand. There's nothing persuasive about it. He's not trying to be persuasive in anything. In fact, he is more fluid and articulate than you are. How do you not get such a brain-dead concept? What's funny is you took it upon yourself to post twice about this. Not our fault you throw words around and had to resort to googling the word yourself to get it. Obviously, the OP don't give a rats ass about what you have to say.

Bravo Lesbi!
mukkrakker
It's "pray-tell" you pseudo-intellectua Dude, if I have to use smilies for very comment, all my posts would be covered with Fahlmans. And no need to use words like intellectual, it's pseudo all the way… Not our fault your wife is nasty You wanna step outside and discuss that remark? Remember, I'm not the guy that needs wimpy women to make him feel good, I'd be more than happy to watch her wipe that smirk off your face. I'm fair game on here but keep your comments about my wife to yourself. But cheap shots are probably all that's in your arse-nal...
