Untimely Phone Interviews

Recommended Posts

Recruiters, I want to know your opinion on the importance of timeliness of phone interviews. Yesterday, the interviewer called close to 15 minutes after agreed interview time. Today, I waited 30 minutes from the agreed upon interview time and sent an email asking if the phone interview was still scheduled. Apparently there was a mixup and they are calling tomorrow instead. I'm sure it was an error, but I really do think recruiters should make an effort to be more punctual. I don't know about anyone else, but I usually wait by the phone at the said interview time for the phone call, with questions and information in my hand. After 10 minutes or so past the agreed upon time, I get a little annoyed, especially if I've taken the time out of my day to plan for the interview.

I hate that. I wonder sometimes if they are testing us and I wonder if their clients know or care. Its a pain but I've gotten a couple jobs starting with a phone interview. The job I have now started that way and he changed the interview twice before he talked to me.
