Should I get Plastic Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I kind of want to get liposuction in my tummy area, fat grafted into my buttocks, and get a breast lift. My husband says I am being lazy, if I decide to do so, but I have wanted to get this done for a long time now. I desire to be in shape, but not for his pleasure. He's picked at my weight since I got pregnant with our second child. He would call me a baby whale, and now he just won't go out with me in public because according to him my size 12 body is embarrassing. So this surgery is for me not for him, because I would like to be slimmer, and have some of my youth back. I have had kids since I was 18, so I never got to dress show off my body in my 20's. By the time I hit 20 I already had earned my stripes (stretch marks) lol!

For the price of plastic surgery, you could buy a decent doghouse for your idiot-husband to live in and have plenty leftover for a day at the spa, a new pair of shoes, and a nice weekend vacation with your kids.

Your husband sounds like a real jerk.

Personally I hope you can be happy with yourself as you are, provided you lead a relatively healthy lifestyle - eat well and exercise regularly (don't need to be obsessed though).

If you want to have the cosmetics done then go for it and enjoy it.

Hope it works out for you!

Thank you for your input. I have a feeling I'm going to save my money and continue to eat very healthy, and am working on incorporating a more consistent workout into my busy schedule.

As far as the husband, I am going to let him know how I feel about his rude comments regarding my weight, and go from there.

because according to him my size 12 body is embarrassing.

I think that equates to size 16 in UK ?

And guess what the average ladies size in UK is .....16.

Your husbands comments are rude, hurtful and unhelpful - you are right to tell him so.

I think that's a far better idea. I'm not opposed to plastic surgery, but I do think it should always be a last resort, and used (sparingly! Not this extreme makeover stuff you hear about) to achieve what can't be achieved by natural methods. I like your proposed approach with your husband too. It speaks of you being well able to stand up for yourself without going over the top.

Perhaps he can atone for his horrible behaviour by paying for your gym membership and helping out in ways that will make it easier for you to fit workouts in. You could book a session with a personal trainer who will create a workout you can do in 30 minutes or less that will be very effective.

Just because she's 'average' doesn't mean she's a healthy weight. Aside from his lack of tact and hurtful delivery, the fact is she does need to lose weight, and should do this with exercise and a healthy diet rather then surgery.

Maybe you are not too big....but your husband is too small.:lmao:

Focus on being healthy - good foods, flexibility, functionality, strength, endurance. Do this for yourself and for a healthy future with your kids, and grand kids and not your critical husband.

The biggest chunk of weight you could lose would be

Wait for it

Your husband.

You're aware that if you could obtain HIS ideal body surgically, he'll find another reason to put you down? He won't be seen in public with you?

Eat healthy, work out, and feel good, FOR YOU. No one else. If you decide you want surgery later as a reward, again FOR YOURSELF, go for it!

Okay, your husband sounds like a douche. But, I hate to say it, I agree with him on the fact that this is the easy/lazy way out...I also agree with Taramere.

Get a gym membership and use it, eat healthier. You'll feel so much better about yourself knowing you worked hard for your body. Don't take the easy way out now. I say now, because what happens if your habits don't change? Think of what a waste that will be. 2-3 workouts a week and eating healthier is all you need. Cut out all that bad stuff. If you have to think about weather it is bad for you, it most likely is. Start with cutting out ALL SODA. I haven't had soda in over 2 years and believe me, that alone has shown. You don't want to have a fatty ass (if you were to have it graphed), you want a toned/muscular butt. If you have it graphed, that will sag too.

Workout, eat healthier. You'll lose weight and build up those glutes (that will come with working out). Then, get the breasts done.

1) Your husband is a prick

2) Stop being lazy, put in the work that is needed. Work out the right nutrition for you and work hard in gym/exercise you do. Doing squats will go some way to sorting your arse out. Cardio and diet will sort your stomach out and will lose fat from all over your body, you can't spot reduce fat. Drink lots of water too

Get your prick of a husband to buy you a gym membership or equipment. What makes him so perfect anyway?

The perfect way to address your lovely husband would be telling him he has an small dick, h should get a treatment for enlargement.

Unfortunately for your husband nobody can grow common sense and brains.

Do it for yourself, not for someone else.

point out the flaw in your husband. does he have a raging 6 pack? huge arms? model-cut chin bone?

doubt it.

get a gym memebership if possible. it gets you out of the house. and the results do tons for your self esteem.

Don't know if sz 12 is overweight or not as everything is proportional (i.e., 4'11 Size 12 yes, 6'0 Size 12 no). Anyway, I agree with folks in that you should definitely take care of yourself. Eating healthy and exercise. I do not agree that these actions will solve all your problem areas (problems in your mind, maybe not by someone else lookin at ya). The positive when you are taking great care of yourself is that the stronger/more fit you get, you get a greater appreciation about how awesome you are and you'll gain an appreciation of body parts you probably ignored!! If after you have reached a good fitness level you still have concerns then you may want to consider plastic surgery. To be honest, it is best to have the procedures you are referring to when you are close to your personal best for long term success and good results. For those thinking exercise will solve a lot of her problems that would be a "maybe." Loose skin does not magically shrink from exercise...things may look better if you build muscle underneath...but the the skin does not shrink. You can't spot train an area of fat away...sorry, you can't. I know some pretty fit gals...from cross trainers to fitness competitors..and trouble areas DO NOT GO AWAY ( I am talking fat areas). Ok, the fitness competitors can get close regarding recreating the bod, but the average person is not going to achieve those kind of results. I also see these gals when they slack off on the strick diet and workout regimens and those lil problem areas come right back!!!!

Marilyn Monroe wore a Size 12

But a size 12 then was a lot smaller than it is today. Also her weight fluctuated quite a bit, heavier when not working, slimmer when working, although on one film, the Prince and the Showgirl, they had to have several sizes in each costume because she kept gaining weight from stress eating.

From a Jezebel.com article:

"According to measurements from Marilyn's dressmaker:

Height: 5 feet, 5½ inches

Weight: 118-140 pounds

Bust: 35-37 inches

Waist: 22-23 inches

Hips: 35-36 inches

Bra size: 36D

"In other words, whatever her size, her figure was an unusually dramatic hour-glass, which makes it kind of strange for women to compare themselves to her anyway. When a collector displayed a bunch of her most famous costumes in London, "they had to get a special mold made for the corset and swimwear dummies in the exhibition because Monroe was such an extreme hourglass shape that no off-the-peg dummies existed in those measurements."

Years ago I saw a museum costume exhibit featuring some of her clothes and they were tiny.

So no more using Marilyn as an excuse to be fat!

To the OP: you can't use liposuction for weight loss. Any reputable doctor will tell you to lose weight first and then come back to suck out fat on areas you can't diet away, like saddlebags or some place genetically programmed to hold onto fat. Afterward, if you overeat again, you will still gain weight but in other places that still have fat cells so you could wind up looking lumpy. Diet and exercise first and you may be able to use the saved money for other cosmetic procedures. Also since you have kids, start doing fitness related things with them like bike riding, walking, swimming, so they get into the habit of being fit.

Sixe 12 or not, any woman with those types of dimensions would never be considered fat...not by anyone with better than Ray Charles vision anyway..

I have considered everyone's opinion on here and I define fly agree with the working out. I have been doing 20-30 minutes a day, something that is feasible for me, but I still think I am going to do the fat graft into my buttocks. I have a nice round butt now, but I would like for it to be larger, and I think that, that is probably the only surgery I will get. These surgeries are for me not my husband, because I have wanted fat grafted into my butt for years now, and that requires liposuction. I'm going to workout and lose about 15 pounds, but I think the last 15 I will get transferred until my buttocks, because this is something I have always desired. Yes, I have an hourglass shape, and no I'm not super huge, just a little chubby in the midriff area, but I think incorporating my new workout plan will help solve that issue. As far as the husband that's a whole other issue, that I am working on, and am pursuing individual counseling for this matter.
