Your thoughts on brown rice. Is it really as healthy/er as it's portrayed to be? Just had a cup after forgetting it existed for years. I feel as if my body is eating itself.

try quinoa, it's even better for you and quicker to cook.

if you're used to processed (white) foods then I guess it might take some getting used to more whole foods.

I grew up on quinoa. My parents used to feed it to me for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as a child. I haven't touched it in years.

I've been eating lentils lately, it has a substantial amount of fiber.

My thoughts on brown rice... it tastes horrible. My ex would only ever eat brown rice and he was a god cook, so that wasn't it... It was the actual taste of the brown rice.

I always feel slightly guilty... I really cannot abide whole wheat stuff. Brown bread, brown pasta, brown rice... it just doesn't taste properly to me and I can never stick to it long term...

I love me some brown-rice. There are folks who say that white-rice is actually healthier than brown. I'm fine either way. With all the sauce and vegetables I can't much taste the rice anyhow.

Same. Can't stand that stuff. It's horrible.

I'm the opposite, white rice and bread has always tasted flavourless and bland to me. Particularly white bread - I might as well be munching on a lump of dough. So I always stick with whole wheat stuff.

I've heard some people say white rice is healthier than brown, while others say that brown is healthier than white.

My solution: Eat Meat.

not sure what you mean by " I feel as if my body is eating itself".

brown rice is good for you. try not to compare it to white. as long as you eat it, youre good to go.

Usually, when I eat certain foods, specially those high on protein my body feels very "lean" and my muscles feel as if I just finished a weight lifting session. It's an unusual yet good feeling. I hope that helps. I'm certain there is an explanation for it which I'm not acquainted with.

I like any and all types of rice, but when I have to choose between brown rice and white rice, I choose brown. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it has more fiber. The processing of white rice strips that away. At least I think that's what I read...

The GI rating of white rice is really only slightly higher than brown rice. From a weight control standpoint, you're better off just paying attention to how much you're eating (this stands true for most things, even lower GI foods).

I enjoy the flavor and texture of brown rice in some dishes, whereas white rice does better in others. I'd say just go with what works best with what you're wanting to eat.

I've also heard stories that a lot of the "brown rice" you see on shelves is just white rice with color added. I don't know if this is true or not, but I suppose it doesn't really matter that much.

I do enjoy the taste of brown rice more as opposed to white or any other color rice. However' it's seldom that I eat rice or carbs for that matter as I haven't been burning as much calories as I used to for the past 2 months. I'm very vigilant with what I ingest which essentially consists of protein, calcium and vitamin D. I manage to sneak in greens here and there as well.

I've confirmed a substantial amount of times that carb intake has a direct correlation to future carb cravings, so I simply stay away from it.

Put gravy on it. That fixes just about everything.

Or cream-of-chicken soup with chicken, onion, carrot, celery, garlic, and cheese.

You know that you're seriously procrastinating when you find yourself reading a thread about brown rice and wondering if you have anything useful/insightful to contribute. I quite like that it tastes vaguely nutty.

Brown rice is heavier than white rice so I've found it's a little harder to digest. Anything more than a single serving in a day and my stomach will start to hurt really bad.

From the brown rice alone?

Spoken like a true Texan! I never saw gravy used as freely as when I moved to Texas. If it stands still put gravy on it. If it stands still for more than half a second deep fry it ---- then put gravy on it.

I detest brown rice. Oddly enough I do like whole wheat spaghetti. And whole wheat bread.
