If you don't know what ERP systems is...move on

Recommended Posts

I think I may have posted something like this before, but even as an intellectual, I have my limits.

This woman said, "I work in IT and as an ERP consultant" (and if you don't know what an ERP consultant is, we're wasting our time here).

I Googled it and it stands for "Enterprise Resource Planning" and I read up on it....kind of looks all Greek to me. LOL

I get a kick out of how pompous people are in discounting someone who doesn't have a knowledge of what the OTHER Person does for a living? LOL

I'll assume you meant to put all of that in quotes? Because the way it's written, you look pompous.

Sounds like she is looking for someone in her own industry.. it might be because she is pretty into work and is looking for someone who will understand her and her motivations.

I married someone who is in my industry as well.. In my first marriage I didn't and I was always at odds with her over the time I had to spend either on deadlines or having to be there there because it is my own company.

Today I never have to worry.. my wife gets it.. of course I also don't work like I did when younger but she still gets it and the responsibility that comes with me.

I think what you see as pompous is just her looking to nip past issues in the bud and not have to deal with them again..

I'd bet heavily that she works a lot of hours or travels a lot.

I only say things like that when I'm interviewing for a job. I knew what ERP was because one of my jobs is an ECM manager. Enterprise Content Management. Its really NOT that big a deal - they are all just big databases! And its not in-depth programming. Think computer nerd wannabes. Don't get me wrong its an accomplishment, but its not rocket science.

I got my MCSE and A+ certifications, but I don't expect someone to know what MCSE means in order to date them. LOL!

This topic jumped out at me because we are integrating ERP into our company's system right now. How ironic ha. I should tell my next date if she is not Google Adwords Qualified, to take a hike lol

Disillusioned

Moral of the story: save the inside lingo for when you're around people in the same mindset as you.

LOL...funny.

I think some people think they are superior than others because they know that speaking an acronym-like format will make them feel...well...superior.

"What? You don't know what an MCSE is? What rock have YOU been livin' under??"
