Need with my diet.

Recommended Posts

I need to lose weight because of health reasons.

This is what I usually eat:

Breakfast I drink blended fruit juice with some bread.

Lunch: 1 plate of white rice and some protein and salad.

I don't eat dinner.

Now I have decided to completely stop eating processed sugar and simple carbs like white rice starting tomorrow.

Anything else I should do? Thank you.

That's a very unhealthy diet. yes you will lose weight fast but you will also gain it back fast.

What's your current weight/height/age and Goal weight? would you rather more small portioned meals per day or big portioned less meals (3-5).

Or PM me if you'd rather.

That's a horrible diet. I think a template of what to eat is a good idea and then you can fill it in with details...ex, my daily diet M-F every day:

breakfast: steel-cut oats w/ scoop of PB melted in

snack: we juice every day at work, so whatever fruits/veggies are in that.

lunch: small salad, main entree (usually leftovers), sweet potato rounds (just sweet potato cut in chip shapes and baked. I make a batch every sunday for the upcoming week)

snack: veggies (broc, carrots, celery) and hummus

supper: so many different things...stir fry w/ tofu and peanut sauce, enchiladas, pasta, quinoa bakes, homemade pizza, etc.

You aren't eating enough, you need to look at this as a lifestyle change, not a temporary diet. Your diet is not going to satisfy you long-term so you need to come up with a healthy plan that you can stick with for, well, hopefully forever.

Plan ahead and have things prepped. Every weekend I make 5 servings of oatmeal, sweet potato rounds, and a batch of tofu. You could sub in whatever you like, but it's good to have it on hand. I'll also make up a container of quinoa or cous cous or whatever just so it's on hand and makes supper easier to prepare. I cut all my veggies (celery, brocolli) for the week and store them in water on Sunday. makes packing lunch so much easier. I'd make all my salads if I could but I don't have enough tupperwares :p

There are so many diets out there so you can switch out tactically if you get a case of ennui and/or become aware of your body adapting to any current progress or stalling.

There are more exact BMR calculators. I use 15W (W in lbs) or if you prefer 33 W (W in kg) to get within the ball park of what you need to maintain your current weight.

Don't go too low a calorie deficit. A typical is 500 under maintenance. Also, eliminating the crap from your diet is always good.

Foods high in fiber, and healthy fats as well as drinking adequate water will keep you satiated.

It's a pretty extreme diet, almost along the lines of starving yourself. I would get rid of bread and rice immediately. Start taking multivitamins if you are looking to continue with this "diet". Increase protein and calcium levels and you should be ok.

If you are eating complex carbs, protein, and lots of green fiber filled foods you will gain health.

Make sure you have a caloric deficit if you want to lose.

Nothing wrong with a short water/juice fast if you want to detox and get rib of some of those psychological connections to bad foods.

You will lose if you stick to a ketogenic diet also.

I have personally seen people have major success at changing their food habits long term when they begin with a heavy detox.

If I ever want to lose I do water for 5 days to get into ketosis, then I stick to a carb free diet until I get to where I want to be- then I transition back to including good carbs and try to stay as balanced as possible.

There are plenty of diets, but it sounds like you are after weightloss so 100% my advice is to fast/detox, then straight into atkins/keto until you are happy.

You hardly eat! This will slow down your metabolism, your muscle will be burned off instead of the fat, and your appearance will become thin and flabby, your conentration and mood will become awful.

Eat 5 meals a day, none of them too small or too big.

Whole grain carbs, good fats, lean protein, dried nuts and seeds, fruit, vegetables. And water!

So far all I see are carbs and sugars, with a little bit of protein and veggies.

Fruits, while healthy... are sugar/carbs... then you're eating bread with it. Then for lunch you also have rice.

Up your calorie intake and try to have a better ratio (i.e. 40% protein 30% fat 30% carbs) and you should be good.

If you're not loosing weight on your current regiment though, the reason would definitely be because you're basically starving yourself. I'd recommend a forum like MyFitnessPal for healthy guidelines and ideas.

Well I am 5'11, 180 lbs. I have started weight lifting and that has given me a lot of energy.

I mostly stopped eating white rice and processed sugar because I realized that made me gain weight extremely fast. Diabetes runs in my family.
