Valentines

Recommended Posts

If you had a special day with your partner, post the gushing details here :)

We exchanged cards and gifts in the morning, after a languid kiss and cuddle session, and had a chilled morning, both working from home, followed by a more passionate afternoon. The evening we went out to a special valentine's dinner at a lakeside restaurant where a friend was playing. We ended the evening with a stroll along the lake shore, drove home for more passion, and finished off dancing in the kitchen to music on the iPod dock.

We spent the day with another couple as a double date who were long-time friends that were visiting from out-of-state for the weekend, went for a romantic boat ride along the harbor, visited a very unique and beautiful exhibit (don't want to be too specific here), and spent the evening dining and dancing. Exchanged gifts and cards, but after dropping off the other couple at their relative's house and driving the two hour drive home and getting home quite late, sexual romance was not on the agenda for the night, but it was a great day and evening. Very enjoyable.

Were freshly sprung hardwood floors involved?

(That's a popular valetine's activity around here)

We were supposed to be escaping on a romantic weekend, last one before baby comes. But it all went horribly wrong due to no central heating or hot water (day 4) and both being ill. We had to scrap going away that day.

But we managed to furnish the new nursery top to bottom, and eat takeaway in bed with champagne, and have a lot of laughs by poking fun at ourselves for being miserable. :)

23 years and I got nuthin....

But it's ok, I'd rather have nothing than a quick run to Walgreens-chocolate bar and bag of beef jerky.

We had a really nice V-Day! We had the kids in the morning, so we celebrated the oldest's birthday. When they went home, my husband made a gorgeous lunch. He worked in the afternoon so we couldn't go out to dinner, but yesterday morning we exchanged gifts. I got him a limited edition game that he's really wanted, he got me a new ring.

Overall, it was a really, really good day.

Honestly, I'm glad to find one 'happy' VDay thread in 18 pages of new posts...

We had a lovely day. He got me a gorgeous bouquet and took me out to dinner; I bought lingerie and a few bedroom bondage items for after-dinner plans. Both dinner and after-dinner activities were pretty damn amazing. :p

We had a lovely day of taking time off of work to shovel/plow almost two feet of snow, dig out the horses, give the dogs somewhere to pee, and try and make things moveable again!

All deliveries were shot though the kids did get their treats which was great. My gift to hubby is still lost somewhere so will hopefully get it next week. We had to drive down yesterday to a distribution center to get his flowers to me that were waiting to be delivered to me at work.

BUT!!! We had a lovely evening of doing his fantastic cheese platter, making him his favorite chocolate cookies (in the shape of hearts of course  ) and driving a fantastic champagne. Fire going, dogs sleeping because of playing in the snow, and just enjoying our time. And of course some booty. ;)

So all and all a fantastic albeit surprising Valentine's day. :D

That's terrible, Hattie :(

Is it the first time this has happened? How could he get you nothing?? You are married ... 23 years!!

Did he say anything about it?

Valentine's Day has never really been his thing. He thinks it's silly that everyone makes a big deal out of one day a year to show your love/appreciation.

Nonetheless, after all these years, you would think i would be used to it. Still stings a little.

Oh well.

Glad everyone else had something positive, loving or sweet to post!

I made dinner (his menu of choice), we went on a 1 hour walk through a park with my dogs, and I got a ring, it was sterling silver with cubic zirconia all around a huge (fake) stone in the center; it was the type of setting and size he'd never be able to afford if it was real. he got the right size and everything. we have known each other 2.5 years but it was only about the 4th or 5th date. and we didn't even kiss, now that's romantic :-)
