i got an amazing opportunity to improve my confidence

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I never held any position of responsibility, so I am amazed that not only had I the courage to stand for election for president of my student society, I also got elected.

However, here is the problem:

- I made several promises, but I now find myself in a position where I cannot do anything, because of lack of money, but also lack of interest.

Not only will I not develop as a person, but I will also be the one who could not deliver. This will impact on my future as I want a leadership role.

How to deal with this sense of failure? I still have 11 more months to go, then it will be time to elect someone else. I am hating all the obstacles in my way that are preventing me from doing what I want. I have a vision, but vision without means is nothing. FAILURE

Why are you already writing this off as a failure before it's complete? Of course you're going to fail if you tell yourself from the start you will fail. However you need to shift your thinking, and brainstorm around how you can meet some of the things you promised to the student body prior to being elected. Try to think of ways you can do these things with support of faculty and the school.

You made the promises, so you're going to have to live up to them as best as you can, regardless of money or interest. Do what you said you'd do.

Leaders are creative in their problem solving. They don't see an obstacle and think, "Okay, only 11 months to go until I'm in the clear." They see an obstacle and aim to solve it by being clever, creative, charismatic, persuasive, or whatever other skills they have in their arsenal. Why don't you try that instead of trying to "deal with this sense of failure?" You haven't failed yet - you still have almost a full year left to achieve something.
