No, it's a random internet photo....

Have you tried this website?

Haven't tried the site, but I'm honestly not familiar with local laws regarding that. Ill check into them.

You have to understand that what is considered "impressive" varies from person to person. I'm not going to say there's no one in the world that finds massive strength to be impressive, but I don't. If I was a motivated body builder, I might. However, I'm not the type of workout guy that focuses o muscle gain. I'm more about the whole package which is why I swam on certain days, ran on others, did upper body workouts, and lower body workouts. Don't get me wrong, having muscle is great. I'm not weak, but I'm not massively strong either. But am I impressed when a dude can benchpress 1,000 pounds? Not really. In fact, how can I be impressed when the dude is laying underneath a bar that has 1,000 pounds on it? In an evolutionary perspective, that's a really bad idea. If I could lift 1,000 pounds and my arms give out...that weight could crush my chest. It's not easy to be a spotter who is bench pressing 1,000 pounds. Things could go wrong very fast, and I just don't like that.

And besides, if a dude can benchpress 1,000 pounds and boasts about it...I'd just tell him to run a mile on the treadmill. He'd go from "MAXIMUM MANLINESS" to "P*SSY." If I had the choice, I'd rather be able to run a couple miles than to benchpress a thousand pounds. If I could run a mile or two, I could maintain a conversation with some physically attractive women. But if you're benchpressing 1,000 pounds, you ain't socializing with anybody. More importantly, there most likely wouldn't be a woman that could spot you.

Just not realistic. Enjoy that 500 pound rock though. Our civilization has these things called "tools" that I'm willing to use whenever I need to. I'll lift heavy objects, but I won't blame myself for not being able to lift 500 pounds.

Fair enough, you have a right to your own opinion.

But if the guy who can run a mile tries to bench 1000, he will get crushed like a bug (I mean, it's a thousand pounds)

imo, a 1000 lb bench is WAY more impressive than running a couple miles. one pushes the limits of what a human is capable of, the other, many grade school kids can do.

You hit the nail on the head!

Given the after-effects on the body after putting it through such punishment, I'd rather watch curling any day than have anything to do with body-building.

I can think of nothing less impressive.

Just means dude spends waaaaay too much time in his life power lifting.

I prefer more balance in my life. Do I hit the gym? Sure. Am I gonna be some roided-up gorilla going around boasting about my power feats? Nope. What's the point? Nobody I know would give a flip about it. Friends and women care more if I'm nice, smart, funny, etc.

-Close the hercules gripper (takes 1800 lbs to close)

-dumbbell curl 225s

-pull 2000 lbs with one arm

-do a weighted pull-up that totals 700 lbs

-shrug 525 lb dumbbells (with no straps)

-load 750 lb atlas stone

-overhead press 600

-lateral raises with inch dumbbells (inch dumbbells weigh 172 each with really thick grip)

-one arm clean and press with millennium dumbbell (238 lb dumbbell with 2 3/8 inch thick handle)

-row 475 lb dumbbell

-one hand pinch 3 45 lb plates

-rip phone book in a half

-break out of cage

-520 lb thumbless deadlift

-bend crescent wrench

-tear up tire (with bare hands)

OP, take it from someone who actually competes in strength sports: Some of the feats you listed will never be done by anyone. They just don't make sense.

Its impressive to me when people push the limits of what is thought to be possible, whether its the building the tallest structures, scientific discoveries or in this case athletic records.... Doesn't matter to me what someone does with their time in these cases... If they are able to smash world records or design machines, medicine, theories ect...all the better.

Whether you can bench press 1000 pounds or run 1000 miles makes no difference to me. However, if I had the choice....I'd rather be able to run 1,000 miles than to lift 1,000 pounds. ;)

No human can "tear up" an automotive tire with his bare hands...Its impossible.. I doubt very highly that a grizzly bear or elephant could either..

Show me proof and Ill believe it..In fact, ill go one better...I say there isnt a human alive that can "tear up" a typical 8 rib serpentine belt that runs the accessories on your car..

Well there are humans who can bend some of the strongest forged steel tools out there, so I don't know.

Are you kidding me? My Step-son can do it in 14 minutes...

I'm sure he can. But he's not deadlifting 500lbs. My point was it's not being able to do either one that's particularly impressive, it's being able to do BOTH.

Ignoring some of the ridiculousness in this list...i wouldn't be particularly impressed......im not particularly impressed by body building full stop - anyone can do it, it mostly requires is time!

What's the purpose of tearing up a tire or the phone book?

I think i'm more impressed by endurance, or feats that require a mix of physical ability & decision making/bravery.

I did a 3.24 marathon - do a sub 3.00 marathon and I'm impressed.

Win an Olympic medal - i'm impressed

Climb Kilimanjaro, or Everest - i'm impressed

Join the army - i'm impressed

Rip up a phone book - you'd probably make me grin, but impressed, no mate .

Which ones are those if I may ask?

Just at a quick glance:

-Weighted pullup with 750#

-Load 750# atlas stone

-Lateral raises with Inch dumbells

-Curl 225# dumbells

-Clean+press Millenium

-Row 475# dumbbell

The preceding are so far beyond the logical limits of human strength, there is no reason to believe they are achievable. By anyone. The best athletes in the world are pushing 98% of human potential, and you're talking about adding hundreds of pounds to the lift.

-Pull 2000# with one arm

-Shrug 525# dumbbells

-Break out of cage

-Tear up tire

-520# thumbless deadlift

These are just stupid. Why would any manufacturer ever build a 500 pound dumbbell? Why would you not just use a bar? Andy Bolton was doing rack pulls with 1100 when he pulled his WR deadlift. Likewise, why would anyone pull a thumbless deadlift? For what purpose? Cage and tire are just stupid and no one is interested in that.

-Rip phone book

-Bend wrench

-3 plate pinch

These are all possible and have already been done. Kazmaier did a lot of this stuff back in the '80s.

-Overhead press 600.

This may be possible but not likely. No one has ever done a strict press with 550#, and since it's not a competitive lift in any recognized strength sport, who is going to do it? And when? I would say Savickas could possibly do 550#/250 kg. but never 600.

I have no knowledge of the Hercules gripper.

I have no knowledge of the Hercules gripper.

For the 525 lb dummbell, they make a bar (a dbell bar) that can hold 10 25s on each side, and the bar itself weighs 25 lbs. shrugging 525s would blow away Ronnie Coleman's 250 dbell shrugs

The thumbless deadlift is a big deal in the grip world

The hercules gripper is made by warren tetting and takes 1,500 to 1800 lbs to close. The world famous Captains of Crush #4,

Which less than 10 men have certified on, takes 365 lbs to close.

Savickas I think one day will do 600, that man has incredible strength (which I want)

How can I develop a monstrous overhead press?

I want a monstrous overhead press, powerclean, deadlift and squat, but I don't know where to start.

If you want to see one of the most impressive "strongmen" ever, look at some of the lifts that Franco Columbu did in the 70's/80's...Pound for pound he was probably the strongest guy I ever saw..

And he was just a bodybuilder and technically NOT a powerlifter..

Check this out....No fancy belts/suits/wraps...nothing...Probably weighed no more than 185/190 here(not 350/400+ like a lot of the other strongmen competitors)..Take a look at some of the other video's ..The guy was a beast..

He was impressive for sure. You know, Arnold was much stronger than given credit for

-520 bench

-750 raw deadlift

-don't remember his squat, but it was very high and he went so deep his rear end was nearly touching the ground

-lifted a 500+ lb stone

The reason he has a silverback as his avatar is because we once discussed how strong they were and he hotly disputed a gorilla could possibly be stronger than a human being.

I tried to present him with proof, but I don't think he believed me.

he maintains he wants to be stronger than the gorilla....

If memory serves me right.

Why?

I have absolutely no fuquin' idea....

All these 'world's strongest man' competitions just make me laugh.

I mean... why, fer chrissakes? What's the point?

So - you can lift a barrel over a pole.... Good for you - so what??

Personal sense of accomplishment?

Applies to any sport and bodybuilding by the way. "So you can kick a ball into a net or tackle someone and score a try or you look like thor. So what?"
