bill101
Hi ! I am thinking about creating an online store that will provide gifts and useful items designed specifically for LDR couples. As we all know here on this forum, LDRs are not like your typical relationship. That being said, I had a hard time finding cute gifts that highlighted the fact that we were in an exceptional type of relationship and motivated us to stay strong. The ones that do exist are scattered all over the internet and are difficult to find. I'm basically thinking about a thinkgeek.com for LDR couples. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. TAV
Yes, I think that is a great idea. Please make sure the gifts can also be send abroad And before you do anything do some market research and make a business plan; no point investing money in something that would not make you a profit. justwhoiam
The problems I have to face currently: - delivering gifts to an American address (I'm in Europe) > often, if the buyer is in Europe and the delivery in the US, it is a problem - payment methods > not everyone accepts PayPal, especially if the store doesn't sell through e-commerce; and I sometimes have problems buying in the US using a European credit card (because the credit card holder is not in the US!) - delivery times > if I'm last minute with a gift, it's a problem because I have to deal with the first two problems with not many options; I can resort to something delivered to his mailbox, but the choice is soo slim - coupons are not that great usually, because they show the value on them, so what if I don't feel like showing how much I paid for it??? Crazy. So I guess what's really missing is a place where you can buy anything with your own credit card and/or through PayPal and have it delivered anywhere in the world, and where products/services could be listed by country and area. As a general rule, I would pick stuff from his country, because it wouldn't have to go through the customs, and the delivery would be smoother. And it should offer many options for stuff delivered to his email address (tickets, coupon for services, etc.) I would say 30 to 50% of all LDRs are between people living in different continents. So these are the problems many couples have to face. Also, I guess the most successful solution would be acting as an intermediary so that anyone can buy from any site, rather than having a list of products to buy (this latter option is more limited and less personal/customized).
