napy666
How did you go about finding your job? Did you get it through a friend or family member? Did you use Monster, CareerBuilder, Craigslist? Did you walk or drive around your area and apply in-person? What did you do and what is the best way to apply for a job using these outlets.
VeronicaRoss
It really depends what kind of job you're looking for, tell us more about that.
pink_sugar
I agree with the above poster. My last 2 jobs I found on craigslist. All of my jobs I have gotten on my own with one exception, which was my first job where my brother worked at the same company. Most jobs you will need to apply for online, in person applcations are rare.
newmoon
it really depends on the job you're seeking. as a professional i mainly rely upon message boards and listservs from my alma mater, and i sign up for job announcements from the places/companies i am targeting and when they have openings i get an email from them. i also go to professional conferences where they often conduct prescheduled interviews. I've never tried the newspaper of craigslist; those are for different types of jobs
Emilia
LinkedIn tends to be the best for me. This is how most agents/companies find me. Also job boards.
SadNLonley
I am also curious. I am in Mgmt currently and my company is just falling apart. I really would love to find a job that I get to work at remotely some of the time. Unfortunately, most Mgmt positions are in office. I also worry the salary is not out there. I asked ex employees how they went about finding new jobs and they advised they found them through networking other people they used to work with. Someone mentioned Linkdn, but others said to get recruiters to assist. Are Career Builder and Monster not the way to go anymore? Last time I looked for a job was 12 years ago. d0nnivain
Monster & CareerBuilder tend to focus on jobs that require education & experience. I don't think they will help you. Craigslist, HelpWanted.com & SnagAJob.com may offer more opportunities for you. You may also want to apply at Temporary Staffing agencies to get contract work while you seek permanent employment. Look at places like ManPower and Kelly Services.
