M30USA
For any divorced dads either already dating again or considering dating, do you have a preference for a particular life-status in a woman? Obviously every person is a unique individual, unable to be compared, but if all other factors are equal, which type of woman would you prefer? A) never married, no kids B) never married, with kids C) divorced, no kids D) divorced, with kids E) other (please explain)
ctxinfl
I don't really have a preference. I can tell you it is easier to date someone who either has no kids or kids that are older, though it is by no means a deal breaker for me. I've dated four women since my divorce. One had younger kids and wouldn't really make an effort. I liked her, though it didn't work out because we barely did anything other than me coming to her house later in the evening. The second woman had an older kid (17ish), though she still treated him like a 10 year old. One time we were going out, though she called it off as he was sick and she had to take care of him. And when I say sick I mean he had a cold. Yeesh...at 17 or 18 I think he can take care of himself. Another I've seen once with a second date scheduled has two young kids, though she makes time to get out. So that's good. And the last has an older kid (17) and she treats her like an older kid allowing herself time to date and socialize. We're doing really well thus far.

Or is there something particular about divorced men that you're interested in? Anyway, my preference is E. Never married, has kids, both adopted. I thought the adopted status of children would be different from B which I assumed meant from previous partner. Sorry to hijack, just wanted to add my voice.
Author M30USA
Yes, I should have included widowed and adopted kids as choices.

CanJanus
As long as they don't want to create new kids, I'm happy. I'm also a little leery about being with a woman who has kids, since I might be "deemed" to be a parent, and that is financial bad news. Child support laws are insane. Older kids, sure... as long as I can avoid acting like a Dad, I can avoid the financial disaster.

Older kids, sure... as long as I can avoid acting like a Dad, I can avoid the financial disaster. This is why child support laws have come back to bite women. Sure, they get child support from their ex-husbands. But the next man they meet (who also pays child support) is a bit wiser and won't be used as an ATM machine and understands the risk.
