"Stuff" that you left behind...Let it go?

Recommended Posts

So...I *think* I know what I should do, but I'm gonna ask anyway.

I'm on Day 7 of NC - she dumped me one week ago today. I'm doing...actually...I'm pretty OK today.

The "stuff" is very insignificant. I mean, they were very significant when I gave them to her/brought them over, but now? Not so much.

I lent her my last USB drive a few weeks back, with all the Lady Antebellum albums on it, so that she could put them on her ipod. The only reason I ask about this is that it's 32Gb, and I could really use it to store some personal files. Hell, it's only $30 on Amazon, right?

Last Friday, I spent the night (wonderful date, blah blah...who knew the next day she would dump me, but yeah...), I brought over a couple of movies that we were supposed to watch together, but we ended up doing "other" things. They're DVD's, so no big loss.

I should just assume that these are gone forever, right? No, there's noone who I can ask to ask for them. The relationship was pretty secret (she's MW, I'm MM, we work together - read my other threads for the gory details if you want), and the only person who knows is friends with us both, and does not want to get into the middle of any personal issues.

So, just looking for some amplification of what I should already know I should do - Do not break NC to ask for them...let them go, as they're gone forever.

I know it seems very trivial. I would have probably been annoyed if they were in my cube last Monday, actually. I'll probably be annoyed if they show up in my cube at any point, actually. So then, why am I even thinking about them?

You lose a lot during a breakup -- unfortunately, one of those things is money. Ideally, you've spent a lot of money on the relationship with the anticipation that it was going to work out, but it didn't. You can always buy another USB drive. I've still got 100 bucks at my ex's university, but I'm not gonna go get that. I'd rather lose 100 dollars than lose my dignity.
