AnneT1985
Hey y'all! I was wondering what you thought about subsequent baby showers if: It's for the same gender within a few years and the first baby shower was large And the same people are invited to the second as the first. Yay or nay? Thanks so much for your opinions in advance y'all! xx Edited March 3, 2014 by AnneT1985
MidwestUSA
Nay, kinda tacky. Maybe I'm biased because I got nothing but hand me downs growing up.
Janesays
Second showers are generally considered gift grabby, rude and tacky where I come from and according to most etiquette experts. Contrary to what some believe, a shower is not a celebration of the baby. The baby isn't even there yet. A shower is supposed to welcome a woman into motherhood. And once you are a mother, you are a mother for life. Therefore, you can't be welcomed twice. This doesn't change if you have a different gender, multiples, a big age difference between children or whatever excuse people like to use to treat thier friends like walking credit cards. If someone loves you and is excited about your baby, they will just buy you a gift unprompted. No tacky second shower needed.
Silly_Girl
I dislike baby showers per se. I much prefer the celebration of the birth of a baby.

Got it
Around here it is called a "Sprinkle" and is a low key version of the "Baby Shower". I am in a similar situation with a dear friend where I WANT to throw her something to celebrate her. It is the same gender within 5 years. What are the thoughts about doing something to celebrate the crazy months to follow? I am trying to come up with something! Why can't people make it easier and have one of each sex so we can celebrate each one!?!

Why can't people make it easier and have one of each sex so we can celebrate each one!?! Just have a party. As long as you don't call it a 'shower' and expect people to bring her gifts, you will be free and clear etiquette wise.
