savethedrama4allama
1. It can mess with the birth control pill's effectiveness. If you're on it and plan to get some, use a condom fo sho. 2. Antibiotics kill bacteria in your body- including the good kind that helps you digest. Some people get diarrhea from them.

Author Naive
Thanks. I started taking them today for my acne but I read in the net that it has all these wild side effects and I got all scared about it
JoL
Thrush (yeast infections) can be a big problem with anti-biotics. I know a couple of times when ive had to take anti-biotics, ive also taken Acidophilus supplements to ensure i don't get a yeast infection..so maybe ask your pharmacist or g.p. if they recommend you take vitamins or something to balance it out. Also, thrush can be a problem wtih birth control pills too.
savethedrama4allama
Yeah, my doc usually fills out a prescrip for diflucan with my antibiotics just in case I get a yeast infection, but I've never had one yet I think if you're not normally prone to yeast infections you'll be fine. Antibiotics are some of the safest drugs out there, really...don't sweat it!
alphamale
Erythromycin tends to give many people stomach and GastroIntestinal problems. Upset stomach, cramps, etc..... Omnicef is a really good broad-sprectrum antibiotic. It is fairly new, within last 4 or 5 yrs.
tiki
Just eat yogurt to help from getting a yeast infection. Thrush is a yeast infection in your mouth, and is more common in babies, or people that are unable to move their mouths as much with talking, eating, etc. Like an old person in the nursing home. My doctor does this also....but 9 times out of 10 on an antibiotic, I'll get a yeast infection. I never get one otherwise, just those darn anti-biotics. Plus, not having a spleen (due to a car accident when I was 8)..I can't fight virus' or bacterial infections as well as anybody else...the first sign of a sore throat...antibiotic's and 2 doses of diflucan are my routine.... moimeme
Any individual can have a terrible reaction to any drug. Aspirin kills some people. However, these troublesome side-effects are usually rare and unlikely to affect you. I second the yogourt suggestion. Make sure it's got live cultures (though I think most does). It can make a huge difference to how you feel.
