truthbetold
I thought a nice inspirational thread would be nice. For me today, in no particular order and most are usually on the list. having the love of my family and friends; the support of my husband; waking up to the day the Lord has made; for my capable body/sound mind; the graces God has given me; a roof over our head; the electricity, gas, and hot water with which to enjoy a shower!; indoor plumbing (really if you have it, can you imagine not?) coffee; (this morning particularly because yest was Ash Wednesday!; our dog and her nuttiness;good food;ability to show kindness to others; my son who at 21 is finding his way and it's humbling that God granted me a role in helping to shape him, but moreso who he is becoming on his own with God's graces; for God's everlasting love and mercy; to be able to call our God our *Father* This doesn't have to be an only Christian perspective. As I've said before I have known many with different spiritual beliefs and even non-beliefs who exemplify kindness to others and love better than some Christians. I just think we all have something to be thankful for no matter what, there are people with so much less and still have a thankful attitude. Also, I would like to share although from a Christian perspective something I was enlightened to. As Christians we believe the sacrifice that Jesus did on the cross is the ultimate expression of "love". When you realize that love and sacrifice are intertwined it can open up the greater understanding of God's love. See my faith teaches that the carrying of the cross, the fruit is "patience" and for the crucifixion the fruit is "perseverance" So now when you meditate on the cross keeping those in mind you read through Corinthians applying each sentence to the cross: 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love" Self and selfish love is like a circle with the arms folded looking inward and all enclosed. True love is a cross with the arms wide open stretching in all directions, all embracing concerned with others. Anyway I thought it was a nice exercise at this time of year! But feel free to share what inspires you, today or any day and what you're thankful for!

melell
I am personally agnostic- maybe that will change in future but nonetheless this post is really beautiful. Being reflective, aware, grateful, loving, giving- all the things you mentioned are wonderful things. I have lots of respect for anyone who reminds me of those types of things. Thank you for posting Made my day.
