King Bowls
I'm currently 190 @ 5'8" Can I be 215 at that height and still be built or would it be mostly fat gain?
Tayken
Er....I doubt it. I am 5'9" at 160lbs, 12% body fat You won't see any definition due to the extra weight i.e fat covering stuff up 1. cut out sugar 2. cut down on your carbs if you don't exercise hard 3. count calories 4. eat a lot of protein
thefooloftheyear
I'm currently 190 @ 5'8" Can I be 215 at that height and still be built or would it be mostly fat gain? Yes you can...but it depends. Branch Warren is 260 ripped..and he is all of 5'7".... TFY I can give measurements, though they are not up to date -13 1/2 inch forearms -16 inch upper arms -32 inch waist -40 inch chest - pretty big shoulders -don't remember my leg measurements, but they are not chicken legs (though my calves are not real big, never have been) I need to remeasure myself though. I would say I am very built but not really lean. I'm not fat, but I have a little bit of a belly. Other than that, not much fat. But I think I have quite a bit of retained water
Imported
Er....I doubt it. I am 5'9" at 160lbs, 12% body fat You won't see any definition due to the extra weight i.e fat covering stuff up I have a friend that use to compete in BB competitions. He was @5'5 and I think right @215lbs when he shreads down. His "extra weight" over what people think is ideal was not fat. Off season, I think he shoots up to 250lbs and still not fat looking, just really bulky. I stay @180lbs at most and am 5'11", but I have been 210lbs to 220lbs with more difinition than I have now. Bigger arms, bigger quads, bigger chest, bigger shoulders....from muscles. Personally, I just think it makes you look stocky even though you're not fat. Yes OP, it is possible to be 215lbs at 5'8" and ripped.
dichotomy
Don't care what your weight is and BMI is old and useless. But you got a clue when you provide your body measurements. It is waist to height ratios or even waist to hip to height ratios that are most telling of health.

Shanger
Reaching that weight without lots of at at you're height is not possible without steroids/gear. 6ft guys could barely attain that whilst being lean. With them, yes. Look up FFMI.
SensitiveTJ
It's absolutely possible, though it depends a,lot on how, lean you want to be. If you have a decent structure, you don't have to be quite,as lean to look good.

With them, yes. Look up FFMI. Disagree.. Genetics play a big part in building lean muscle mass...Thats why there are gyms full of skinny dopes with 13' arms that are on enough juice to supply a Mr. O competitor...And there are guys that get pretty big by barely trying... StandingO
I think it is possible but many factors will make it easier or near impossible. Your frame, genetics, diet, intake, and workout discipline. I am about 6ft and 195. My frame is a bit bigger then average but most of my muscle is in my upper upper body, chest, shoulders arms. Yeh I got chicken legs lol. If I had a well balanced body with matching legs I could hold 225 and be ripped beause then I could pack on even more on my upper body. If I was 5'6" and wanting to be ripped I would could not keep 215. On the other hand an old friend of mine was 5-8 and 215 or 220. Built like a tank. All muscle top to bottom. He had the workout discipline, frame and genetics for it. Just a hint of gut on him at that time still he looked ripped. He could have eaten better at times but true for all of us. If you are young then go for it. Beyond a certain age I don't think it is a healthy goal because of the quantity of food intake required. Large intake of food even if we are fit catches up to most of us all in the long run.

EasyHeart
I'm currently 190 @ 5'8" Can I be 215 at that height and still be built or would it be mostly fat gain? 5'9" and 215 would make you one of the more muscular NFL runningbacks. So if you are in your twenties, a genetic freak and a professional athlete, then the answer is "yes". Adrian Peterson is 6'1" and 215, so you would have to get significantly more muscular than him: http://chicksinthehuddle.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/adrian-peterson-shirtless_300X400.jpg Good luck with that!
