FitChick
I watched every one of these videos but suggest you start with the Introduction Video and the Jennifer Butler Press Video. Then watch the rest if you feel inspired. I love her different approach to color -- multidimensional with a spiritual aspect which is unusual but appeals to me. Much more so than the typical Four Seasons Color Me Beautiful idea. I know two women at work who radically changed their "presentation" and I wanted some of that! One even took her husband for a makeover and said their marriage improved. I feel like I need a positive change for the better so this would be a start. A bit pricey but it's an investment in my Self. When you change your energy and attitude, everything else changes to accommodate the shift. It's about more than the clothes.

Maybe it's because I'm a guy, but I've never tried to dress in any particular style. I let who I am be my presentation--good or bad. My clothing is kind of bland but I like it that way. Comfort is my highest priority.

It's about more than the clothes. why do you have to follow this advice? why not just go to the store and pick out an outfit that is completely different than how you normally dress. just a few new pieces can help overhaul how you feel and how people see you. and a new haircut to go with it. Author FitChick
I just logged onto Jennifer Butler's website again and I don't know how I missed the dramatic before & after pics of men and women. Scroll down to the bottom of the home page for the short video. She explains why our appearance is so important. Looks like Linda Gray and Mariel Hemingway, as well as a few best selling authors, are clients. I like being comfortable but I also like looking good. I need a better way of combining the two. I am so excited about doing this that I am hyperventilating. Edited March 8, 2014 by FitChick
SpiralOut
I found it helpful to watch a bunch of fashion TV like "What not to Wear" and "Project Runway". They've got lots of tips and ideas. Also I bought a few fashion magazines even though I used to turn up my nose at those things. Heh. Since then I've been able to put together my own outfits that suit my lifestyle. Mostly dresses with bike shorts underneath, then a jacket or tights or whatever if it's cold out. Or a skirt with a yoga top and yoga shorts under the skirt. I can bike everywhere, go to yoga class, then meet people afterwards and look cute. I feel so ridiculously happy when I bike in a dress. Also I've incorporated brighter colours into my wardrobe as I feel more confident. So yeah I agree that how you dress isn't just about the clothes; it's an expression of yourself.
melell
I find that if you match colors to skin tone you can get away with wearing pretty much anything in those colors. I know my colors, and the textures I can pull off so that helps. It is a good idea to be really familiar with your body shape and find out what type of clothing works with you. Personally I am long in the leg and really short in the waist, so there are quite a few items of clothing that don't look quite right on me no matter what I do. Just play around and enjoy! I think it sounds like a great idea. It is amazing how nice a new look can make ya feel.
Hello_is_it_me
Someone that is truly comfortable with who they are would dress more for comfort and less for style (aka proving something to people). It's akin to "what tattoo should I get to express myself?"
Bruce Leigh
Someone that is truly comfortable with who they are would dress more for comfort and less for style. I don't know about this, i used to think this way but then maybe i got too comfortable in my zone and i wanted to step out of it. It was nothing drastic, a few more colors, more varied footwear and a little more consideration for color co-ordination. I certainly wont dress the same way i used to a few years ago, wouldn't make sense to slip back into a comfort zone i wanted to step out of.
GravityMan
If I like the outfit (meaning, it looks nice, I can match it with other pieces of clothing, it works with my skin tone, etc.), if it fits, if it's comfortable, if it's decent quality fabric, and if it isn't ridiculously overpriced...that's good enough for me; I might just buy the darn thing. (And even if it doesn't quite fit off the rack...I can just take it to my tailor.) That can include traditional designs (e.g. white cotton dress shirt), more unorthodox colors and patterns and everything in-between. I like the saying: "Wear your clothes, don't let your clothes wear you."
