Starting a new life with body building.

Recommended Posts

I have always been a big guy my entire life. 6'0 and heavy weight.

Recently, I have decided to body build, cut out all white carbs, white bread, and sugared products from my diet.

So far, I have been lifting for 2 months, eating clean, and the results have been great!

I am no longer tired all the time, I got more energy, and am generally a happy person.

I understand this will be a lifestyle change, but with dedication, will, and power, I believe I can do it.

Any advise you guys can offer would be appropriated.

Thank you.

Stick with it and results will come with time as you are already seeing. The first few months to a year, after long periods of off time, or if you are just starting completely new, then, you'll probably see your best results, be patient and know that after about the first year or so (if you have not consistently worked out before) results will not be as rapid but will still trend in the right direction if you continue doing the right things and lifestyle changes. The better your training, eating, sleeping habits, the better results.

How old are you? If you have been out shape a while make sure you have a physical.

What programs or routines are you using to body build? Read some books on this ?

Protein !

My advice is to just keep up the hard work. I have done the same thing that you are doing, and it works minor miracles. Your head will feel more clear, your body will feel stronger and more energetic, and your mood will improve.

Good work so far! Keep it going!

Good for you.

Don't underestimate consistancy, rest, and water consumption. That would be my advice. Good luck.

Get a mentor.

You seem much more hardcore about it than I am (I've changed my diet, but not all that much). I made crazy gains in the past 2 months (I lift twice as much as I did when I first started). This is because I have a good friend that used to be a personal trainer. I just followed his workout regimen to a T.

I only go to the gym 4 days per week and average about 30-45 minutes each workout (not counting the planks I do at home) and I've noticed major gains.

Also, I never do cardio.

Good luck!

Don't completely cut out carbohydrates, the human body needs them.

Don't neglect cardiovascular exercise either, looking trim and lean is useless if your cholesterol is through the roof and you have a heart attack at 40!

Also avoid the heavily marketed 'health' supplements which are hyped up and put out there purely to fill someone's pockets.

A balanced, healthy diet trumps all that fluff.

Good luck :)
