billybadass36
Yay for me! I got engaged on Friday. Woo hoo! It was a quiet evening at home. She'd had a rough day at work so she thought I was just making her a nice dinner. Salad, pasta, wine, the whole nine yards. Had a bottle of champagne on ice in the closet for after I'd proposed. She was totally not expecting it although we'd had the talk about marriage and kids and all that several times. Had three dozen roses in the dining room, etc. After dinner we'd planned on meeting my family up at a local restaurant for my uncle's birthday dinner. So, after dinner I told her I had a question to ask her. I reached under the table to grab my ring box (it's a Gelin-Abaci tension ring, and their boxes look more like necklace boxes), and I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. I couldn't even get the words out without losing my cool (some macho man I am). She was shocked, stunned, etc. She put the ring down and just started kissing me. She started crying, was ecstatic, and then the lawyer in me took over, "So, was that a 'yes'?" She said, "yes", and then I put the ring on her finger. Hugs and kisses, etc., followed by a barrage of phone calls. I uncorked the champagne, we toasted our life together, and I proceeded to drink the majority of the bottle while she called: her mom, her two sisters, her brother, her two best friends, her boss, her boss' daughter, my mom, three or four cousins, and possibly some others. Then we met up with my family and everyone was excited, toasted us and our life together. It was all a blur, and I was in bed by 11pm. Now we're planning the wedding. What was going to be a small event at my parents' place is now a total gala event at my parents' place. I'm excited, but I wish someone would have told me what all this wedding planning entailed. I think I'll do best to just stay out of the way on that one. September 24, 2005. Not a whole lot of time, but that's our favorite time of the year and do NOT want to wait a year and a half. Sorry to toot my own horn, but it seems like there's not nearly enough "good" news around here. Her ring is a Gelin-Abaci tension ring model TR-169 with a one carat Canadian conflict-free diamond. It is one helluva sparklie.
