Live_wire
It's a fact. Women are looking for more than a box of cereal and broccoli when they shop at the grocery store. They also use stores as an opportunity to scope and prowl for men. The best times are after 5 PM friday and saturday night. I was surprised by a gal who had been staring at me while she was getting her prescription filled. Another stared and smiled and another gal approached me out right and smiled and said hi. We had a brief conversation but it did take me by surprise. I was kind of in a daze and not dressed very well, but it didn't really matter. Very interesting. It seems like everywhere you go women are scouting out men. It leads me to speculate...
AntiSocal
Women don't "prowl" grocery stores. They "prowl" 24/7. They are animals looking for a suitable mate after all. When they see a guy that they think they can have they can't help but jump at the opportunity.
Author Live_wire
I look forward to your stories of people you've met while grocery shopping.
gaius
I usually have the least luck at the grocery store trying to get eye contact and openings with women. It's always much better at Walgreens and other errand destinations. But maybe that's because I'm always grocery shopping at 6am with all the other people who don't want to be bothered. GorillaTheater
I was a bag boy when I was 17 or so, and was propositioned several times by older women looking to take me home. But even though I was attracted to older women, I turned them all down. I was an idiot.

Wow-- all this time I thought I was going to the grocery store to buy ingredients and leaving the house to live my life! That said, it doesn't hurt to be keeping an eye out and making opportunities happen. You can really only have random encounters if you are open to them.
carhill
OP, I've been grocery shopping for myself for about 30 years, save the ten I was married where I shopped for my exW and I, and have rarely noticed women being 'on the prowl' at the grocery store. Indeed they did seem 'friendlier' when I was married (and wore my wedding ring) but I never assigned any significance to that as, predominantly, they were (and are) all married too. That said, if one has a tough time meeting women, there certainly are plenty of them shopping at the grocery store. Better yet, try WalMart

When I'm at the store, I notice women, but I just want to get my crap and go and wouldn't even think to start a conversation. Pretty much everybody I see in grocery stores is in the same mode. oz-missy
And here I was pushing the trolley, checking the prices on the shelf, grabbing groceries, and heading off to pay. It seems I've totally have been doing the groceries wrong. I should be "on the prowl" instead. Move over box of breakfast cereal I'm going to go and find me some man at Woolworths instead.
JamesM
I do the grocery shopping on Saturday nights and often after 5pm. I cannot say that any women look at me with a second glance except someone I know. Looking at the women around me, they look to truly be shopping. And the way they dress is not exactly a look that would snare a man. Perhaps I should pick a different store than Wal Mart.
iris219
When I was single, I avoided the grocery store on Friday and Saturday nights because it made me feel like I had no life and I figured no single people would shop on weekend nights to avoid looking lame as well. Author Live_wire
I can officially confirm that mondays right after 5 PM are NOT a good time to get picked up by women at a grocery store. You have to differentiate between early fri. evenings and late evenings. Early evenings at the time I mentioned are great; later in the evening there are fewer shoppers and fewer opportunities. Also, friday early evenings are far better than saturday evenings.
Anela
When I go to the grocery store, I'm not scouting for a man - I have images in my mind, of women bopping men on the head with butternut squash, and locking them in the boots of their cars. I was hit on just before Christmas, when my store was two minutes from closing time. I responded politely, but zoomed off to find what I was really after: coconut oil, and nutritional yeast.
JamesM
Coconut oil? Sexy. Yeast? Not so much. I will do a report on my next shopping trip, but I doubt I will report much. Do you think a wedding ring turns off potential flirters?

FitChick
I do my shopping on Saturday afternoon. I like to cook and I like to eat what I cook. Call me odd, but there ya go! Yet a famous TV actor chatted me up so I guess that makes him a prowler. Lucky escape that I didn't recognize him -- I don't have a TV!
gettingstronger
I love this post! I grocery shop after I work out so I usually have on yoga pants and a tank. My husband always teases me that I look like I am on the prowl. Guess he was right

Yeah, some women try to make that happen for real.
