irc333
Often times I see this in dating profiles from women and I find it actually puts me off emailing her. Why? Because chances are I know she won't respond no matter what. I get a kick out of how some of the women on dating sites say they'll respond if you put some kind of "code word" in the initial email or "Guess the quote" from a movie. I've done such a thing, still nothing. After jumping through those hoops, it's no wonder its off putting to see the , "If I didn't respond, chances are I wasn't interested" disclaimer. Though in a recent post, I did hear from the ladies that said they wound up dating someone they met in person they wouldn't have normally done so online. Gentleman, do you find it off putting? potsticker
i suppose it'd make you feel like a number rather than a person, but I suppose that's unavoidable if they're getting spammed with messages
normal person
It's a way of diffusing their responsibility. Probably too often they got some terrible messages from guys who then got pissed that they didn't get a response. So the girl will qualify her inaction ahead of time. If they want you to use a code word or something and you do it and still don't get a response, don't be surprised. Reading her profile in full is one of her prerequisites. She's not going to disregard the fact that you're overweight and unemployed because you both love quoting Wedding Crashers. She still has to like everything else about you. It's just an additional hoop to jump through, not the only hoop.

thecrucible
So they don't have to be responsible for telling people individually that they aren't interested...so they can disappear without a trace? I don't know. It puts me off when I see that in a man's profile...because it sounds kind of arrogant...well sort of...things along the lines of "Feel free to message me. I may not reply. Afterall, I am a picky man" *rolls eyes*
