Hearing Siblings talk ill of you to parents

Hello all,

So I think I may have heard a conversation between my mum and my older sister (who I am on really bad terms with).

It was after an argument with my mum and basically, the sibling was saying something along the lines of 'she is a b****... You and him (dad?) lost her a long time ago!" They were talking more quietly than usual.

I should probably have just rushed there and asked 'who is the b****?' etc, but:

a) the sibling is violent and has been violent with me during each argument.

b) Despite the strong likelihood that they were most probably talking about me (I have been called a whore and had an argument with my family recently in which my virginity/honour was questioned), I needed a little bit more evidence.

Anyways, do you think it is a good enough reason to leave the whole family for a toxic sibling? My parents think I am in the wrong because she spends so much time with them and is always at home, influencing them. I never get to be with them because I am fed up of how my sibling made life hell for me.

Thanks.

I would stay away from her, but if you do have to see her, just talk about "light" things such as the weather, etc., so that she does not have anything to "feed" on. Perhaps you could visit your parents when your sister is not at their home. It's always good to keep in touch with parents with a visit. I wish we could choose our siblings, the way we can choose friends, but unfortunately that's not the case. Hopefully things will get better in time with your sister.
