Getting to know people IRL is a much better idea. What are your interests? Join groups that do those things. Try interacting with people from work. Get active in an alumni association. I actually have setting to prevent complete randoms from adding me (must have friends in common, but even then, I have a list as long as my arm of people who have added me that I don't know). So I don't have any advice on a cheesy line... There are none! Facebook is not for random adds. It even asks you if you know the person in real life! Move on to other methods. Meetups or whatever! My profile is set up so about all you can see is my photo and some minimal information about me. So any strange guy who contacts me, has got to be doing so purely because they think I'm physically attractive. Thanks but no thanks.
