jgs78
So I was watching the Sex and The City episode where they use the men are like taxi-cabs analogy. You have to get them when their light is on. When their light is one they will grab the first woman they see. Most women have had their light on a long time and it is all about timing? I was just curious about what the men out there think about this statement? Do you really think that it is somewhat true?

Author jgs78
Thanks Alphamale! Ooops, I forgot to mention in case anyone has not seen that episode that the taxi-cab theory is referring to the idea that men are either ready to dive into a long-term relationship or they are not. I.E. the light is on or off? Do you guys out there agree?

Do you guys out there agree? well u did not say this initially. it is true to an extent but it has to be a compatible woman. if a dude is ready for a LTR he's not gonna start dating a fat ugly chick when he is used to model types. CurvyGurl
Men are ready for the right person. When he says he doesn't want to be in a relationship right now add (with you) on the end. For the right woman, he is more than ready. He's riding around with his light on, waiting for her to hail his cab.
alphamale
Originally posted by CurvyGurl Men are ready for the right person. yes, that is what i meant. but this applies to everyone, including women (notice how i did not say "females' CURVYGURL)

Alphamale, the fat and ugly dudes gotta' date someone so I don't think that the fat and ugly women have to worry about being lonely for longer than the usual ten minutes. Same for those fat and ugly guys. I've known many men who rate no higher than 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 yet spent years and years dating Rosie and her sisters while holding out for the 10 they thought they deserve. Most of them are now with 4s.

Yes, Saffy, it is. I've known some people who weren't so pretty at first sight but after I got to know them, they were cute in my eyes. And I've met some people who were drop dead gorgeous until they spoke. Then they became very ugly very quickly.
Author jgs78
Thanks for everyone's responses, but we're off on a tangent now, can we get some more opinions on the taxi-cab theory?
clynn
Yah. It is tough sometimes to determine your own league. Sometimes I'm sure I've overshot and other times I think I underestimate what my potential is..... Its tuff to know cuz no one is really gonna tell you, "Well, you're cute, but with only an okay haircut, a pretty good, but not awesome job, good sense of humour, but not hilarious and could probably stand to lose 5-10) that adds up to a 7. So look for guys who are 7's. That would be useful though. And I don't know about guy s......with their lights on but I would agree that is a little true for me and I 'm a woman. For a long time, I dated people short term adn wasn't looking for anythying long term, whether I realized it or not, and passed on some people who I would have been interested in for the long term because I wasn't ready for that back then. Sorry but I took offense to this comment... had a very negative connotation to it. The fat ugly chick part. Possibly just worded badly. For myself I have preferences in a woman, and what I prefer may not be someone else's ideal woman, but I dont use derogatory terms. Added afterwards : Sorry didnt read the whole thread first
