Body or looks

Recommended Posts

Unless they start mass producing cheap drugs that people can just swallow to improve their bodies without spending any time doing any actual physical activities or controlling their caloric intake...I don't really agree.

Sure, it "can" be done, but the majority of people will not do it successfully. Will not maintain for long. Will revert back to fat. Hell, they may not even try. Because it's far more difficult for them than someone else cause they are different and stuff. Insert excuses here.

Everybody also has the possibility of making a 6 figure salary and higher. There are a lot of things that people "can" do. Until they do it, I am not putting faith in them doing it.

Well I answered because I had to chose from the 2 options nice face or fit body. I'm ''shallow" because I always had beautiful girlfriends , nice face and fit body.

So how bad where you talking about when you said a body that can use some improvement?

I wasn't talking about me, I just meant someone who could use going to the gym more frequently than not at all if that makes sense :)

As for a woman with a pretty face and a body that needs improvement. Would she count?

I can't wrap my mind around using her as an example of a body that needs improvement. I actually thought that's what average guy wanted. She has a very feminine body.

As for the original question - Meh. How about a happy medium of both worlds? Just an average everyday guy? That makes me happy.

That's one thing good about you Phoe. If more people thought like this, the world wouldn't be so shallow.

Okay, I'll bite. I say face. The body can be improved with much less effort, but the face is less malleable. I know, I know, plastic surgery...but, it simply takes less effort to change the body than the face.

So true. Once read a poll that said 80% of men would rather date a woman with an athletic toned body and an ugly face (we call those butterfaces in the uk as in everything is hot but her face) rather than date a stunning woman whose figure is not so perfect.

I would say that would be generally be the case where I live. It is with me and pretty much most of my friends from mid 30s up. To be fair quite a few women I know make a fuss about how so not shallow they are because the guy they have is not hot looking in the face but is > 8" taller and/or has a solid muscular build. It definitely cuts both ways, though probably not to the same extent for women I'd say.

It would not shock me to see that a big number of guys want an "athletic and toned" in their profile, when they are out to date women in their mid 30s up. I'm not sure why they mention it, and just instead leave it to their discretion who to contact. The thing is a lot of women in that age bracket up online are now starting to get a bit of a middle age spread. Beefy arms & midriffs abound, for many of the single women. If a guy keeps in shape and regularly goes to the gym, or jogging or cycling or playing soccer, then I think its fair enough to want an athletic woman. (its a bit tougher to do likewise for single moms with sole custody). I do think its a bit of cheek for the flabby/chubster/scrawny guy to expect a slim & fit lady, but plenty do. Because fat in a guy tends to be distributed all over more than for women, many guys I reckon still think they are good shape.

A lot of guys realize too as they get older the chance the woman is going to get bigger is much more likely than the opposite, so if they start out athletic the better....just being honest. 3 out of 4 of my last gfs put on 5kg+ weight within the first year. An "athletic and toned" body stands the person in good stead as regards health and vitality as they get older. Also from my perspective, a hot body makes sex (and also attraction) better then a hot face, and I know some of my single friends think the same.

Nice overall view there. I agree that I would personally choose someone who is maybe not buff but definitely goes to the gym, plays sport ect. I don't want a man whose going to have a heart attack at 40 and die on me.

Luckily for me I have always been active and fit and even as a big girl currently I am still extremely fit and active and will continue to be so. I would expect the same from a guy :)

How ugly of a face are we talking here? Something like this?

Not even the most amazing body or breasts can make for a face as unfortunate as that.

Then for me it's definitely face.

somedude81, the second example is sooooo not what we're talking about here! :) That woman is gorgeous! Her body is healthy looking, curvaceous and shoot....:)

I also don't think we are looking at extremes towards the other end like the first pic. Are we?

Just curious - what do you love about the curly hair?

For me, it's a genuine, down-to-earth look. Also I've noticed that curly haired women, are more amiable and easy going compared to straight haired women. Plus a woman that rocks her curly hair is confident, is comfortable in her own skin, and that's very sexy. Especially dark curly hair. To reiterate, this my perception, my taste.

I am attracted first to someone's body. If a man is tall and thin, it is likely I will be attracted to him regardless of his face (within reason, of course). A tall, thin man will catch my attention over someone with a really attractive face who isn't tall and/or thin.

I am more attracted to someone's face ...... you can always improve a physique.

Face over body.

A body is a lot easier to improve and work on than a face.If a face is unattractive it just is and barring surgery, there is little to be done.

Whereas one can alter one's body a lot easier without surgeries.

People are saying you can improve your body, but you can only do so much with diet and exercise. Genetics play a huge role.

When I say I notice body over face, I mean I notice when someone is tall and lanky (not fit). I don't care whether or not someone has a hot body from working out and I don't care if someone has an average face. I do, however, have a specific body type I'm attracted to.

This poor woman was born with a horrible, rare disease in which she has no body fat. I think it's terrible that you chose to use her as an example here. You should thank your lucky stars that you were born healthy. :(

OK, then go ahead and post an example of an ugly woman who isn't suffering from a rare disease.

Hey OP. Didnt realize you started this thread. I see most people here look at faces.

As I said in the other post, I had asked guys I work with which they would prefer and they all agreed they like the body over the face.

I am with most here, and a face is what catches me first. Eyes and smile to get particular.

Beautiful deep dark eyes and vibrant curly hair. Strong emphasis on the curly hair. Since both of these are on a woman's head, then I say her face.

This man has extremely good taste :)

I think it's the same for me.

Always has to be the face but i really mean eyes.

Seen a few women with great bodies from behind only to have them turn around and think " meh ".

A woman's smile paired with great eyes will always get more attention than if she was wearing a low-cut top for example. For me anyway.

I will always be a sucker for a pretty face and a great smile. and I would agree with Valen that my favourite feature is the eyes, the right ones would trap me for ever :), they are the windows to the soul anyway. so yeah face over body any time
