Probably just over 18 mionths ago, i hit 13st 3lbs (185lbs) and being 5'7, that was quite a jump. I usually hovered around 11st 10lbs (164lbs) but more exercise, watching what i eat has seen my weight drop down to 11st 1lb (155lbs).

But what gets on my nerves is people asking me how much more do i want to lose? Some will flat out say dont lose anymore weight as it wont look good on my frame.

Anybody else experience similar comments when slimming down?

Ignore them. It's your body. They are used to seeing you fat so if you are thinner they are either envious or just not used to the new size.

The people who have made these comments, i wouldnt say any of them are overweight themselves so i doubt envy applies to them. But who really knows.

I'm 6'2, 14st 7. But I would not slim down as a lot of it is muscle. I am trying to bulk up more! So it all depends what look you are going for?

 

When I was 13st, I used to look like I needed a feed. But if you're into marathons rather than bodybuilding skinnier maybe your thing.

 

If it aids your decision: I've never known any girls that I've known complain about me having too much muscle though and it comes in handy in life lifting things, however I probably eat twice the food you do.

 

You have to work out what you want in life and then change your lifestyle to suit that e.g. One of my friends is a triathlete and he eats more than me but is working out far more and so is skinnier.

Everyone is a critic OP, you need to find the weight you feel the most confident at and not give a damn about the nay-sayers. There is always one :rolleyes:

Brad Pitt weighed 155 pounds in "Fight Club" and he is 5'11.

 

 

At 155 pounds and 5'7 you are not "too skinny".

 

 

I'm 6'1 and weight anywhere between 168 and 173 depending on the day.

 

 

The most I've ever weighed was 200 pounds in my early 20's. *I* didn't feel comfortable at that weight. My metabolism required an astronomical amount of calories to maintain that weight. My current weight is much more natural for my frame since I am a smaller boned man.

 

 

All that matters is what YOU are happy and comfortable with ...... don't concern yourself with the naysayers.

Ha ha i'll never be skinny, nor will i be a marathon runner. I was sprinter in my youth, years ago. Was a pretty good winger until i suffered a bad knee injury.

No fear (or brain) on a rugby pitch does have its advantages :)

 

I just wondered if anybody has experienced comments such as the ones i have received.

I've been told that I look like I'm dying when I lose too much weight. And of course the same applies if I was to gain a few.

Yeah, I've gotten those comments. I've even been told I look anorexic, which I am far from. :lmao:

Oh yea. I'm currently in the process of losing weight and a few people have made some unwelcome remarks.

 

- You're losing your boobs!

- You wanna lose MORE weight? You're gonna be stick thin!

 

I'm curvy, athletic and still have a bit more weight to lose. I will never be skinny and I'm not interested in that. I want to be as toned and healthy as I can be and I know my body best.

 

So, ignore the unnecessary comments and keep focusing on being healthy!

I would take it as a poorly constructed compliment. In other words, you look great now, you don't need to lose anymore weight (to:don't lose anymore weight).

 

To the ones asking about how much more you plan to lose, they are just expressing an interest in you and your program. They are not suggesting you need to lose anymore.

 

When people make ambiguous comments to me, I always have a'presumption of good intentions.'

 

In other words, if I say something to you that could be taken two ways, and one way makes you angry or sad, I meant the other one.

Rugby is my favourite sport, you probably have a very nice physique.

 

Yes experienced it years ago but not really since I started boxing :eek::laugh:

Oh boy can I relate! Well, sort of anyway. You see, I used to be a whopping 270lbs (or 19st) until about 15 months ago when I started losing. Today, you and I are the exact same weight and only an inch or so apart in height.

 

Everyone keeps telling me not to lose any more but I want to lose at least a stone (ish) more. I'm black so my body shape (bigger butt, hips, etc) means that anything lower than that probably wouldn't look that great on me but I'm well aware of the difference 15lbs makes and at about 140 (10st) is where I want to be.

 

This is a comment I've heard from friends and family alike and quite frankly, I've heard it so much now it doesn't even affect me. I've been hearing it for the last 20lbs or so, so I know they don't know what the hell they're talking about nor do I let them make me complacent. I keep pushing and keep working and pay no attention to what others say.

 

I don't think these comments are from hate or jealousy however, and I really do believe that it comes from people being so used to seeing you overweight, when you lose enough to make your figure anywhere near svelte it gives people pause and makes them think you're slim enough. All I can say is, you know your body and your goals best.

Wow, well done on dropping that weight off.

 

Best thing is that i have dropped the weight just by watching what i eat and more exercise just through walking. I have always loved to walk though which has no doubt made it easier for myself to drop the weight. Keeping my metabolism up was key for me. Any significant meal is followed by at least a 30 min walk. Just over 2 miles the speed i walk at.

Will be introducing jogging and sprints into my walks in the coming weeks, will see what results this produces.

 

Good luck with that last stone.

Don't take it offensive ....take it as constructive criticism.

My cousins boyfriend told me i had a flat ass....now I do squats.
