freebird31
Christians: Does God bless those who are good people and who have faith in him? Will he bless us on earth, i mean? Also are there any verses in the bible that you would recommend reading. Thanks. I read Romans 8:18 "The pain we have been suffering will not compare to the joy that is to come" But i think that verse is talking about the joy we will feel in Heaven. I wonder if good and moral people are blessed here on Earth. Edited May 5, 2014 by freebird31
angel.eyes
God blesses us with His grace and presence, in the form of the Holy Spirit, while we are here on earth. Both Christians and non-Christians benefit from His presence and involvement today. That will change with the second coming of His kingdom, when we are separated. That's my interpretation from reading the Bible. What do you think based on your own readings? Also are there any verses in the bible that you would recommend reading. Thanks. I read Romans 8:18 "The pain we have been suffering will not compare to the joy that is to come" But i think that verse is talking about the joy we will feel in Heaven. I wonder if good and moral people are blessed here on Earth. Rather than specific verses, I suggest reading the Epistles in toto to get the complete context and the full breadth of His message. Most are fairly short books.
M30USA
God blesses everyone--the righteous and the wicked, the believers and the non-believers. How do I know this? Lets go to Scripture. "For he makes his sun [ie, blessings] rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain [ie, trials] on the just and on the unjust." (Matthew 5:45) Contrary to what we are taught by 90% of modern pastors, God does not favor anyone. How do I know this? "For God does not show favoritism." (Romans 2:11) He gains nothing from us and loses nothing in spite of us. No matter how righteous we are, we are going to suffer because Satan is the ruler of the world. On the other hand, no matter how wicked we are, we are going to experience love and compassion because of the "common grace of God". Even Cain had a protective mark put on his head by God after he killed Abel! (Gen 4:15) Surely you wouldn't say that Cain was "favored" as much as you'd say that God is merciful. So what is the take home message? Do not look at your apparent temporal circumstances (rich or poor, sick or healthy) as an indicator of your righteousness and obedience to God. The ultimate question is where your soul will spend eternity. If you wind up in hell, all those "blessings" were curses; if you wind up in heaven, all those "curses" were blessings. Take care! Hi M30USA, Your response was so inisghtful and very much helpful. But so what you are saying is that no matter what we will suffer here on Earth? What if we are feeling sad and depressed and in emotional pain, will God ever help to make us feel happy and joyous again, while here on Earth? And Can God give us something that we ask for? For example, i just lost my best friend she betrayed me. And a year ago I also broke up with my first love. I am still recovering, but if I ask God to bring loyal and loving people in my life whom I can trust is this something that is possible?
todreaminblue
Hey freebird, if every one had just pain and sadness in their life their would be no laughter ...you have to know sadness to know true joy......i know true joy have felt it quite often even though i have a fair amount of sad things and not so nice things have happened...i am still her because i have seen and known joy ever had a feeling where you are dancing on the inside jumping on your bladder so you want to pee a lot like a kid on xmas morning ...... well that to me is what true joy feels like...lol....not the toilet part but the dancing on the inside when you are physically still like a kid waiting for xmas morning part.... god sends tender mercies when we have trials i feel this deeply, and even through sadness and trials these tender mercies come maybe you wont feel it while the trial is happening but you feel it out of the blue and you realize ....crap i made it ....i am still here and kickin and then you realize you have been praying all along for help ands you remember when something little happened that got you through a harder day ......and it comes in tender memorable ways.......deb Isaiah 63:7 I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us-- yes, the many good things he has done for Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses. Psalms 40:11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. The Bible tells us that everybody will experience comfort and compassion--no matter who you are. It's part of the general human experience and it's not because we obey God. If you need comfort at specific times, you should pray. God in his sovereignty, and by his choice, may decide to give you more comfort. His ultimate concern though is the eternal state of your soul. Sometimes, in comfort, we neglect God and forget him. He knows just the right amount for the well-being of your soul. Edited May 6, 2014 by M30USA

Possibly through these situations He is teaching you discernment? Also would like to add God will move people in and out of your life and there's usually a reason. Some were only meant for a season to accomplish whatever plan God has for you. Sometimes people in our lives were brought in by other means (flesh), but God always turns these situations to His glory. I have prayed that God would move anyone who is not meant to be there and bring in the people He wants for me. He does it and it is hard, although that is what submission is all about:)
Tayla
there is no concept of "good" persons, we each are blessings in the making to each other and to gods plan. (there is good and evil habits though) When God chooses to place people in our lives...we are either the student or the teacher in that life circumstance. we always have a choice whether to stay long enough to find its blessings or to move onwards and rekindle ourselves in harmony with Gods will. What is a blessing in my eyes may be seen as a curse to another....Think about that...and know that overall the lessons come...and with it..Gods mercy and love
