Either i want him or i want to fill the void

This guy ( we were good friends, pretty close) and i almost dated, but we never did. During our two year friendship he kind of distanced himself from me but then we were back again and talking. He was extra nice to me and did all these things to make me happy. After a month he told me he has feelings for me twice but i rejected him the two times because my best friend liked him. I dont know whether i like him or not but i know there was this. Little bit of attraction between us and he made me really happy! However it had to end before we even dates and it ended badly. Since hes with me in school i saw him a lot and my life was miserable. I could hang out with anyone he hangs out with because of the awkward tension between us. Now my best friend and him are VERY VERY VERY close (basically they became best friends and i know he really likes her as a friend and trusts her). Anyways he broke whatever was going on off because he felt that i was using him and pretended to like him when i didnt. WELL i never told him the reason i rejected him! I knew there was potential for us but i didnt want to lose my best friend. He said he had to stop talking to me because he has feelings for me.

 

Whenever they (him and by best friend) talk to each other i get extremly mad and upset. He usually jokes with all the girls except me. It has been a year and we havent spoken. Part of me wants him so bad and that is what makes me upset. I havent dated anyone since and i think he has this on and off fling with this girl.

 

Today in school he actually spoke to me and was teasing me a bit. We were with a group of friends and both us were a team on this game. We joked a lot but he didnt seem interested. And anytime i try to strike up conversation he kind of ends it. And today i realized how happy i was when he talked to me.

 

So is there any second chance or is it completely over?
