TryingToFigureItOut Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 So I met a guy about a week ago, we have been texting every single day since the day we met and we will talk all day. We'll talk about our day, getting to know each other, flirty things here and there, etc. I also hung out with him and his friends a few days ago and we had a great time. He did tell me that he is "totally booked" this weekend meaning he was busy, and never responded to my last text since yesterday afternoon. I haven't heard from him since. I'm not really concerned with the fact that he hasn't texted me back since he said he is busy BUT my question is am I supposed to text him and ask him how his weekend is going so far? Or do I wait until Monday and if I haven't heard from him, text him and ask him how his weekend went? Also an issue is that he lives in the city where I live but is in town for the summer until he has to go back to school across the country for his final year before he graduates. I'm not sure what his intentions are but he has not asked me for anything sexual, and we have made plans for this upcoming weekend to go to the beach just me and him. So do I text him today or just wait until Monday?
milanlover Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 My advice is that don't be too full on him this early on!! Why even post a thread about this new guy you ve just met a week ago?? Nooo!! It will lead you to obsess about him later on and you will turn crazy! Trust me! I've been there! Just play it cool! Don't mind it!! If he cares and if he likes you, he will contact you! The ball is in his court now! Don't make the same mistake like I did and now it's really hard for me to handle it after 2 months when he's legitimately busy now and we can't really talk much and it did turn me into a clingy girl and it was shiet. Luckily he likes me so he overlooked all of that but this is a new guy for you, don't ruin it!!

I'm normally used to the casual texting every few days this early on into a new dating situation, but talking everyday is not something I'm used to, so I'm just trying to figure it out.
Gaeta Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Being busy is ok. Leaving a text unanswered is rude. He saw your text, he would have simply say that he was busy and talk Monday. When you send a text, wait for answer before texting back. DO not text again. He saw your text, it's on his phone. Because he's moving across the country soon, If I were you I would enjoy this for the moment and not expect anything out of it.

Well the text I sent him was literally "yeah" so it wasn't something he had to reply to. 1
Author TryingToFigureItOut Posted May 10, 2014 Author Posted May 10, 2014 I rarely respond to texts, I don't like texting and nobody is going to make me change my mind. It's simply the dumbest thing ever invented. Thats fine, and I've dated guys like that. But like I said we have texted for 6 days straight from morning until night with maybe a couple of hours of duration between a few texts. So going almost two days with no text is different to me. Like I said above, I would be okay with this whole situation if he didn't make me used to receiving a text message every 10 minutes.

You know we used to text from morning till midnight EVERYDAY for 1.5 MONTHS and then when he started his busy period and he couldn't text much, I freaked out! Cuz it was almost first time i let someone text me day to day like that! So I think texting is not good communication, just pick up the goddamn phone or meet up!!
Author TryingToFigureItOut Posted May 10, 2014 Author Posted May 10, 2014 I think I'm just going to wait until Monday and if I don't hear from him I will text him...
Targetlock Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 If you want to text him, text him! i think from the sounds of it he will be happy to hear from you
acrosstheuniverse Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Don't overthink it, just text. Honestly, the 'I'm busy all weekend' to me would indicate more of a 'I'm too busy to meet' rather than a 'I'm too busy to communicate'. I often work 70 hour weeks, 9am-11pm shifts, and nobody I care about has to wait more than half a day to hear from me. We all have toilet breaks we can use to fire a quick text off, even if it's just to say 'I'll write to you later!' If he likes you, you texting him won't put him off you. If it turns him off and makes him think you're clingy he wasn't that into you anyway. If he's into you, he'll be happy to hear from you. That's the approach I take, I text when I feel like texting.
Author TryingToFigureItOut Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Thanks for all the advice everyone, he actually just text messaged me on his own! 2
