Keeping infant cool?

Tips, tricks and advice on keeping an infant cool? We're about to move into a place that barely has proper central air and it's always so stuffy. He barely thrives and is tired or exhausted from nothing, even in mildly warm temperatures. Since summer is coming, I need some guidance to cool down him, or his room, any way possible. Does fans in the window work well enough? Maybe there's a product out there like an ice pack they can lay on (presumably if it's not too cold)?

It would help to know age of infant, if over 6 months whether or not baby is sitting up? Also perhaps your ped or the office nursing staff can make some safe suggestions.

Along with asking your Pediatrician as suggested, I would invest in a small air conditioning window unit.

This one's just over $100, that's pretty darn cheap -

I just noticed this one as well, maybe even better- it is portable. But, be sure to read the reviews by customers who have purchased - it seems it is not a real air conditioner per se, more of a cooling humidifier that works especially well in dry climates. I dunno, might add to the stuffiness in your apartment? Unsure. Does it get over 96 degrees by you? Read the customer reviews for sure (under product picture in link)

Ah, now I just saw this as well. A true portable air conditioner. Under $300. However, from the comments I read, it seems there is a hose that comes with it that for 'exhaust' that needs to be directed out a window?

Standing rotating/oscillating fans would help as well to move the air from the A/C unit around the apartment.

I don't think I would put the A/C unit in the baby's room though, too cold and too noisy. A different room would be best, and then use fans to move the air around.

Lastly, you may also want an air purifying/filtering/cleaning unit to catch the dust and pollen that comes through. Good luck!

Put a rolled-up wet washcloth around the back of his neck and give him cooler baths frequently. Install a ceiling fan in his room.

Eta I thought babies don't sweat but maybe that's dogs
